Bigger 2.2 wheel tire combo. like... 30 series?

If a 2.2" rim were bigger it would no longer be a 2.2" rim. :?

The official USRCCA rules allow a maximum wheel size of 2.2".

I understand that it's not "comp legal", but I'm saying a whole new tire and rim line. Basically big rim, short sidewall ,like say the "Road rage" tires on regular 2.2's. Only everything is bigger. So, the rim would be 2.6 or 2.8 but the tire would only be a little taller than a regular moab

Personally, I don't like the skinny low-pro look. Much rather see a medium sized wheel with a beefy tire.

Sorry to get off topic, but why the hell does everything come back to the Competition Rules? If you want something, and think it will work better, go for it! Who cares about the rules?

As far as the 30 series, I think the new pede/jato/rusty wheels would be pretty good. Might be difficult to stretch some 2.2's over them though.

shouldn't be too bad, I streched some masher 2000's over a 2 5/8" wheel, although I didn't wheel it like that. I think if you had to you could just trim the bead of the tire some to help it fit.

Apparently some people compete and in order to do that you have to make rules. You know those things that make everything fair.

I'm curious what other people think, so I'm going to ask in Chit Chat.

I dont mean to sound anti-competition or anything. If that's what you like, then go for it. What I'm saying is that if you want to try something that no one has tried, try it. If it's not comp legal, don't use it in a comp, but use it when you're just messing around.

Almost 8 hours of "messing around" & still have another 2 hours left:flipoff:

OK, well what would be the difference in using Jato wheels compared to 2.2's, in relation to 40's series and regular Maxx size? I'm not gonna compete, I was just looking at things from that point of view. If the 40's did so well, why not do a similar thing but smaller? Just for giggles, I put a 2.2 Moab on a Jumbo Maxx wheel. It slipped right on and looked kinda like a mini 40 series, just a tad too big of a wheel. I'm going to see if I can play with some Jato's at the LHS sometime next week when I go.

Rolling 28" strong

Here are some pics of my experiment. I still need to fill them with weight and glue the inside bead. They went smoother that I thought. Had to remove the outer bead of the rim and create my own with an O ring. Then the sidewall had to be trimmed to get the correct roll. I know they are not comp legal but they look way bitchen!
