Blue Spyder JK by CFM: Sons new rig

My buildup of my sons new rig. As most know, I have built him a few scalers and this one is going to be his all out build. All of the others, although very cool, were budget builds using spare parts.
I realized earlier this year that he has made honor roll all year and hasn't gotten in any fights(finally), and I hadn't done anything to reward him.
This build is getting everything new, or custom built.

VP transmission, all metal gear, Locked Up RC slipper eliminator
MIP drive shafts (from his current build)
New SCX chassis

This one is going to run the scx width axles. I made a set of XR width but have decided to stick with scx width and use hubs to get the width I'm after. The XR width is good but when using scale lockout hubs, they will stick out to far with the narrower VP hubs. With the scx width, I can run the .600 or .750 VP hubs and the scale locking hubs will sit down in the wheel lookin way more scale and protected. Kind of hard to explain but you'll see.

It's got .475 hubs on that rear axle pictured and the new hubs are going to be .725 to there will be .250 per side width change. Should give it that perfect 1:1 look of running on full widths.

The hood louver kit is from Krawler Konceptz, they also offer an Ultimate Posion Spyder kit that come with the hood louver kit, the tramp stamp, rubicon hood replacement stickers that have the Spyder logo where the O is, and Spyder aluminum stick on badges.
The rocker knockers aren't licensed parts, just a clone of theirs and will be going on a few special rigs. I can offer them for sale but will have to be done so through pms or I can start a vendor thread if people like them once they are done on this one. They will look like the ones on the Venom One chassis I just did.

Not really an update but was playing with my new iPhone cinco and the panorama camera

Built the transmission today. Not one of those big blingy($$$) units. Just the essentials. VP case, Locked UP RC slipper eliminator, HR steel gears, Axial steel outputs w/pin hole, and Fast Eddy bearings.

Son finally smoked the 3 yr old hand wound Tekin that was in his truck so I grabbed a new Holmes 35t Torque Master from Locked UP RC.

Built the front shocks today and for the lower links setup for the front axle and semi hung it to check the wheelbase. Assembled the axle with VP 8* chubs and knuckles, VP locker and Axial HD overdrive gears with Fast Eddy bearings. Vvd's are on the way.
Installed the rear Tough Armor swing out tire carrier that I grabbed from Locked Up RC. Also installed the Dinky RC trailer hitch.

More goodies showed up today.
VP hubs, VVDs, and shock hoops. Dinky RC head and taillight kit and Freqeskinz led light covers also from Dinky RC.

Your gonna have to do a write up on the Dinky headlights and tail lights. They look like a nice piece of kit.

I'll have a write up on the head light portion and radiator core support for sure. Don't plan on using the taillight a on this build but I may do the housings just to show how they work.

The swing out tire carrier with full size spare is a nice touch. I really like the deep blue body color. Nice looking build.;-)

The color has become a go to for all personal CFM rigs. I am having a custom wrap done for this one though to help represent the brand and fellow crew. Fully licensed of course.
