Well, a local had started this, but lost interest. I snached it up, and am stoked to get working on it!

Current Specs:

Custom bobbed hilux bed
Hilux cab w/ K2 back
X trail chassis narrowed
stock scx-10 wheels w/ G8 flat irons
RC4WD shocks

Future Specs:
Custom bumpers
sliders
OD green paint
scale doodads

I am in a rut right now however. I cant seem to figure out a good clean way to mount the back of the cab, and the bed. The whole body is super clean, and dont wanna be drilling any holes in places you can see it. The front part of the cab is already mounted"thumbsup"

Looks great! The body work is real clean. I'm hoping to get started soon on my yota. As for the body mounts how about building a toolbox and mounting it with screws that you access through the toolbox?

why dont you add a bed front then mount the cab and bed separately to the chassis. you'll get them twisting and out of alignment occasionally like the 1:1.
then use hidden body posts to mount them to the actual chassis. the tool box will work in this regard too-on my ford crew cab I have two body posts sitting inside the openable tool box (as well as the esc, lol).

really clean bodywork was done."thumbsup"

for the body mounts you could shoe goo some pegs on the bottom of the bed and add some plate to your chassis. kinda like a reverse body mount.

here's a pic of pantablo's j top pajero for a reference pic

You should sell it to me, that would fix the problem.

You beat me by just a few min.:x YOU SOB...

Pablo, thats a pretty cool idea you got there! I was thinking about making something like quick release where you pop a tab that is flush with the shell down on the posts and it locks on. Still havent figured it out quite yet but I am closer to getting it done.

ED, :flipoff:

Pablo, how does that shoe goo hold up? any issues with it breaking clean off the body?

i don't have alot of experience with the stuff but recently ive been building with it. the styrene i'm working with tears before the shoe goo lets go. very tuff stuff

This might be a lonnnnnnnng build! I had some time tonight to do a couple little things to it. I detailed the grille a little, and started bending some solid rod for my front bumper. I only did a little since I am waiting on my 3racing winch to get here from RPP"thumbsup"

Hopefully I will get more done on it tomorrow night, and thursday

Update!

Since I last posted on this, I was able to get the cab mounted up with the help of a local. I also got my 3racing winch in as well"thumbsup" Then today I got to work on a front bumper. this is what I came up with:

I am still not sure of the front bumper. If I keep it, it wont be as long as it is now (width wise) I am cutting everything below the grille off, so I could put a nice bumper in. I am just un sure if I can make a nice enough bumper

NOTE: The bumper isnt going to sit like that if I keep it, that is the best mock up I could get...:lol:

well, I got the bed mounted since I last posted in here, hope to have it up and running tomorrow"thumbsup" Here are a couple poser shots of it out on the rocks

My deadline to have this thing running is next wednesday (When I head down to Moab for the EJS!!)

Got a LOT of work done today!! I was even able to get all the electronics in and got it rolling! I still need to get some other minor stuff done, before Moab this week, but it should be ready to roll! Some future future plans are to do a full interior, and some other stuff, but for now, I am running it the way it is

latest news flash::shock:
A respected member of RCCRAWLER.COM was found dead today with what investigators are calling "COLD DEAD HANDS SYNDROME" It appears that a Toyota crawler was the motivation behind the slaying of "Going Up!" a member who built the famed ***Bobbed Yota Project*** that is now part of the investigation. Police are not saying who might be behind the slaying, but there is news that the new owner is enjoying thier new truck and reported as "HAVING FUN!" more news later as we break into this story as it comes. And now back to our regularly scheduled program allready in progress!

ROFLMFAO!!! That was a GOOOD one!!:ror::ror::ror::ror:

Like it, but the non-matching body lines are killin' me

Ya the bed is sitting right on the frame. If I go lower I need to drill through the bed to get it lower. I am not sure what I wanna do yet as far as the body goes, but for now, she is hitting up Moab, and I will have pics up hopefully soon!!!"thumbsup"
