BONDO's WRAITH BUILD

I had a little time the last couple evenings to do a little tinkering, I was able to install the second JR DS8711 servo for the rear steer and got the home made links all in and tightened up. Also installed the RC4WD forward battery tray.

After I finished up I got to noticing how the Vanquish links captured ball ends(Revo) have a little slop in the aluminum mounts and in the center skid. I may have to shim them, IDK how critical this little bit of play will be till I do a couple tests once I get the electronics all wired up.

Still have yet to start on the interior but I have settled on a theme/color and it should be a little different than I've seen on everyone elses.

I loved using the stainless RC Screwz on my build.

BUT, I didn't like how they decided to use cap screws for the cage rather then the button head supplied with the wraith.

Now that I got the cage together the kit was supplied with the button head screws for the cage so the body panels can fit flush. I was worried aboutr this but it worked out, The SS screws really contrast nicely with the black of the plastic. The kit actually supplied a lot of extra hardware, I have a nice little pile left over to add to my "bag-o-screws" for future builds "thumbsup"

nice build you got there, and some kickass parts. it will be interesting to see which CVD set will break first, i heard that the axial ones are better, but this should be the ultimate test. from what ive seen, im assuming your going for 4WS. AWESOME, ive heard, it is soooo much fun. and i dig the red servo horn. i rekon that is the only colour to get, it looks so good. so yer, once again, sic rig you got there man.:):):)

also, just quick, that front assembly looks different, usually theres a tie rod and a drag link, but this eliminates the tie rod, and makes it one less thing to get stuck up on when out on the trails. and i cant wait to see the colour scheme.

Thank You Gentlemen

I got the interior all cut out and mocked up last night, had to mod my drivers seat a bit for the driver also for the perfect fitment. I'm ready to paint it all maybe tonight ?

I have weds off and will try to get all the elctronics installed and wired up and figure where the hell everything is going to go ?

Lightened the seats a bit, they are solid plastic and weigh a ton.

Almost 10 grams per seat, thats nearly one less ounce up high.

Sorry to hear about Ol Hoss loseing a motor today Bill
Time to upgrade "thumbsup"

Didja get a kick out of the pics I sent of my driver last night ? :lmao:

yes I did get the pictures and they are great! my red neck got his butt kicked today at the trails too.. LOLOL

Patience my friend ! ;-)

Couldn't sleep last night, broke out the TX manual and figured out the rear steer via steering mix.

I now have rear steer on/off with the thumb button and can reverse the steering with 2 presses of the scroll wheel to have the covented "Crab Walk" at will. Happy days, WOOHOO !

Tonight and my day off tomorrow I'll get the soldering done on the elctronics and strategically placing them, unsure as of now where the hell everything is gonna go ? Ideally want most weight as possible up front but that infeasable due to space constraints so prob most of everything is going in the passenger compartment or now vacant rear battery area to keep wires short as possible.

Well, 20g is still more than 1/4oz short.

I do however like the lightening of the seats!

As long as I've ben burning trees (25yrs) I know all to well how much a 1/4oz is, this is not rocket science, mearly a toy.

Hopefully my seating lightning is my little something to contribute to the other Wraith fellas, I'm sure with a little more time invested a bit more weight can be saved but I'm not to concerned with being ultra critical, have to many other things to do to get ready for the up coming weekend. THX.

Well some stuff went right tonight after all ?

I talked to my Viper Rep earlier because I had a few programing questions and told him what I was doing and he said the VTX10 ESC has a very robust BEC and should feed the 2 DS8711 servos so I elected to install it and we'll see what happens ?

It's now a rolling chassis minus der, wheels and tires. I'm going to paint the interior and body panels after work Fri and maybe get it all together late evening plus all the little stuff to do yet ??

The steering is gonna be mega fun !
