I just learned about the Vaterra Ascender and have been wanting an RC Blazer for a while. Well i ordered the Ascender off the website so i could build it. I also wanted it to be waterproof and so i bought the Traxxas 3350R Velineon vxl-3s Waterproof 3500 brushless motor and ESC Power System (311224426633) and Traxxas 2075 digital high-torque waterproof servo. I also bought the suggested parts: Reaction 7.4v 4000mah 2s 50c LiPo hardcase 96mm EC3 battery, wp 60a fwd/rev Brushed ESC, Standard servo extension, dynamite 55 turn brushed motor. For the reciever I got a FLYsky FS-GT2E AFHDS 2A 2.4ghz 2 ch radio system transmitter for rc car boat with FS-A3 reciever. I wanted waterproof and didnt realize it till after I bought all the recommended parts so i realize i now have 2 motors lol. My question here is what am i missing, what i did wrong, what good choices did i make? i have no paint or tools yet so i would like to know what tool kit would be good to buy for this.

The brushless system you got...return it if you can. The Kv is too high and it's not sensored.
Hardcase battery not necessary, but you have it so keep it. I would suggest getting a 3s.
Traxxas 2075 servo...return it if you can. It's only 125oz. of torque...you should really have 250oz. at a minimum.
The Dynamite 55T motor is gonna be a dog on 2s...even on 3s. Go for a 35T...you'll be a lot happier.
Tools...all I can suggest is when it comes to hex drivers, get MIP thorp drivers.

So worst case I can't return it, what can I do to ease this or should I use the 55 turn? also what does ot do to have that brushless one?

Also what's your recommended servo?

If you can't return it, either get something else to put it in, or sell it. Try the 55T...you might like it. If you want to run brushless, you really need to have a sensored motor...it will run smooth on the bottom without cogging like an unsensored motor would.

That depends on how much you want to spend. Want to go cheap...Solar D772 is about $24 and three times the power of the Traxxas 2075 you have. On the other end, $80+ for top shelf.

I'd prefer waterproof and good for water and mud. I'm not too stingy but I'm definitely not going over $100 just to steer haha

Honestly all I know about these is they need a motor steering and they look cool haha. I don't particularly know the difference between sensored unsensored and brush less brushed except what you're saying. I figured I'd keep the 55t till I find the one I need. I want it all waterproof so that's why I went for that traxxas. I didn't realize I'd have too much. Any suggestions will probably be what I go with. I just want waterproof and good for water/mud. And thanks for all the help so far

You say that now, just wait until you have it all together.

That brushless motor is terrible for what you're likely intending to do with it but it'll break parts really well!

"Itll break parts well" Yep definitely getting rid of it lol. im trying to return it on ebay to rcsuperstore but no response yet.... what motor and esc do yall recommend? Waterproof is what i want but from what ive been looking uo brushed motors arent too concerned with water.... i may just buy a few cheap 35t motors but what kind?

For the money it's hard to beat a castle sv3 hooked to an integy 35 turn motor. Waterproof and capable of 3s with no issues.
