#BRODOZER - Class 3 F350 - Diesel brothers rock buggy Replica

Man there goes all the character the truck had, gonna have to take it out before crawlapalooza just can't go with a completely fresh truck lol

"GOD SPEED"

Yea yea, I know. But she's gotta look perty for crawlapalooza. Don't worry she'll have plenty of character back by the TTC

Sadly, more of the paint had to come off, and by more I mean ALL. If you've ever scraped the paint off a lexan body you know what I went through. I'm pretty sure I had some serious issues with the duratrax black bonding with the spray paint. I'm using tamiya silver this time and a new brand of spray paint.

While paint is drying. It's time to make some small but needed parts. I picked up some 0.080" music wire to make hex pins.

These turned out perfect! Hope they hold up. I will shake down the chassis before the big event...just without the body

Next the Brodozer got some bling. Axial finally released their optional caps and collars for the king shocks.

And the base is ready for reassembly. I replaced several bearings in the axles. The outer pinion bearing on the front axle was basically locked up

I had to make an electronics change too. Since I now have the tekin 2300 in here, I'll be running on 4s for certain things like the mud pits and hill climb. Since the sidewinder running the winch can't arm on 4s, I switched it out for an fxr I had used in the fj40. It has a 4s cap and has worked well before.

I already started putting her back together. Looking just as good as it did the first time it went together.

Looking good! I really like this rig.

It's hard to make a large tire truck have that "look" and I think you pulled it off well here

Thanks man!!

I got the body painted again. This time the paint quality and finish turned out 10 times better than round 1. There are a bunch of scratches in the lexan but the paint covers them up pretty well.

I also sandblasted and painted the wheels again.

Just a little more assembly and the Brodozer is ready for crawlapalooza.

simply amazing the attention to detail on this rig! wish I had that kind of skill!

Thanks man I appreciate it!

Got a little knocked out tonight. In order to be able to use the light bars while on the trail and using 4s lipo batts, I picked up some cheap ubec for fpv cameras on a drone. 2s to 6s input. And 12v output. Not super consistent but will work. Tried with a fully charged 3s and the 12v was 11.7v. With a 4s it was 12.5v. Should work fine since the LEDs can run off of 12.6v direct. Anyway it's all soldered in and waterproofed.

I tried something different this time for the sponsor decals. Picked up a clear vinyl decal sheet and printed photo quality on it. Turned out much better this time and was so much easier to cut from the sheet.

Just a few minor things and she's ready for crawlapalooza.

Just got back from Crawlapalooza today. What a great event.

The brodozer did great on the comp courses. Just not as good as some of the purpose built trucks. She was a hit!

Stole this pic from fb.

Luckily I got into the TTC as an alternate. And took home some hardware.

Well the Brodozer is 2 for 2 in TTC events.

Topping off the win at crawlapalooza with a win in our first annual TTC. She didn't win all 7 events but did enough to win it outright.

Nice job! Really enjoyed getting to see this rig in action at Crawlapalooza. Pics definitely don't do it justice. "thumbsup"

was great getting to see the brodozer on course , you did a great job on the truck

Very cool truck!

This rig is incredible brother. Great detail and execution! Congrats on the win as well"thumbsup"

Thanks a lot guys!!! The rig performed really well on the rocks considering its size and weight. It's one of my favorites in the garage.

In our local club we plan to run at least 2 TTC events this year. Plus I hope to be able to try and defend my crawlapalooza win in Oct.

The rig just works the way it is....but it could be better ;)

I'm going to revamp her for the 2017 season but not getting rid of the badass Cat yellow heritage.

First step is some more power. When Castle released the sensored motor line I knew the brodozer would be the best test bed for me.

Picked up a 2400kv with 5mm shaft. Should be just the added wheel speed and torque I'm looking for.

Pulled it apart to waterproof the sensor. Very intriguing new design compared to other sensored motors.

The other area that needs some help is tires. I love the pitbul growlers don't get me wrong. But they don't work for this rig on slick rock and in the mud.

Enter....2.2 Hyrax

And some Incision Grenades

Using CI foams in front and trying the PL foams in back.

The PL foam is huge. We'll see if we stay with it.

Little teaser on the truck.

Last but not least is a new look. Still going to be a custom crew cab made from proline ext cab bodies but going with some originality on the paint.

Some lexan fresh for cutting......

As I said above, the truck doesn't need a lot. Just some tweaks and a little freshening up. Can't wait to get her ready. The first TTC is planned for April.

How did the paint hold up after the refresh for Crawlapalooza? I work at a southern dealership and have been wanting to paint up a rig Cat yellow and black but didn't think it would stick to lexan. Nice tip for spraying lexan paint first.

Actually really well. The key thing is the tamiya lexan paint as the primer. The next is how you handle the coats of the cat enamel. Since I work for Cat I got a rattle can of cat yellow and it was the biggest headache lol. I went to my local farm supply store and bought cat yellow from whatever brand they sell. It's and enamel. The key with those is to put a solid coat and let it cure....for a day. Then spray the next coat. I'm no paint expert but enamels are weird. Apply each coat within like 3 hours of the last or let dry 24 hrs between coats. I did the let dry method and it worked great.

So no-go on the rattle can Cat yellow? That's a bummer. I was going lift a few cans off the parts counter. Thanks for the info!

Sorry if I was confusing. I used a rattle can. Just the ones from work were not as good as ones I bought at the store.
