Brushless 1/8 Scale Buggy

John you know what I mean. Take a peak in the new Xtreme RC, they compare the OS V-Spec .21 to the OS .28VX and the winner for consistency and lowest average lap times was the .21 hands down...that and its fuel economy was far greater.

Like I said a properly set up nitro buggy will beat the current crop of conversions because they aren't there yet. Once Losi/AE or someone makes a basically giant 1/10th scale 4wd buggy then I know the electric will outclass the nitro.

I prefer nitro any day, its the noise and tuning that I like. Funny thing is I'm faster racing my MF2 in stock or Mod than my Revo or AD2.

So the .21 was pulling better lap times than the .28? Sounds just like running an electric on 3s lipo instead of 4s on raceday, or a carpet car on 5 cell instead of 6 cell.

There is certainly a point in racing where there is too much power, no matter what the power supply. The smaller and lighter cars will race faster too, especially on small tracks. Our local track record was set with a mini-t when I used to race.

Let me help.

Some footage of an electric RC8, appears to handle pretty well.

Has my racing juices flowing again after 14 years away from the track!

i remember in a issues of R/C driver they had an 8 electric conversion that used a BIG BL motor that had a "square" can and bolted right up to any standard big block mount.

since i saw that, i am kicking around the idea of finding a decent Serpent roller and maybe trying an 1/8 electric TC....

I think all the nitro fumes are starting to take its toll on some of the members:mrgreen:. J/K if its R/C I like it."thumbsup"

I love the smell of nitro, don't much like the noise, but damn do I love the feel of my BL converted Revo. Something about all that power on tap is just intoxicating. I have had some big blocks in Revos and T-Maxxes with stupid amount of power, and none of them come close to my Feigao 8XL (the big purple can).

Wheelies on command on wet concrete with on-road tires does get old though. :D

Its funny, I've been racing my hellfire for a while now, its built strickly for racing, sporting an OS.21 Vspec, and I always out run the .28's. Theres something to be said about balance and gearing. I run Mugen 3 shoe alum clutch sanded down to about 3/4 of stock size at the contact point, with a set of stiff springs, and geared as low as it will go. Use the inherent Higher RPMs of the motor to out run in the straits and the high stall speed of the clutch to build instant torque, but The guy in the club with the well built BL Revo still spanks me every time.

My truck walks all over built revo's and alot of other truggies, I still haven't figured out how to beat him, all I can do is hope he munches a pinion, which he usually does

Not a buggy but, I have thought of converting my Revo over to BL. Only thing I think about though is run time. Let's say someone is running a quality nimh sub-c pack with 10 cells of 4000 mah or higher...instead of a lipo. Will I get enough run time to last a race?

Runtime will be decent if you don't have a ton of top speed. Biggest concern is weight.

That's one thing about nitro I like...you can just refill the tank.:) I can usually get about 4 or 5 tanks out of the RX pack charge...and that's alot of bashing.

If I had to pick one thing I HATE about nitro...it would be the mess. I'm a very anal retentive SOB when it comes to cleanliness on alot of things, and I am always cleaning the rearend of the Revo of the oil residue.

try RC-monster. They have motor mounts and stuff for a lot of different vehicles. Excellent quality too. Thats where I go for all my stuff.

Here's a couple pics of my revo that I converted. Just waiting on the new packs to arrive to run it again. Esc is the usual Mamba max and the motor is an 8xl. I machined up the parts for the conversion myself, and I really went for the simplest and cleanest setup possible.

I honestly haven't been able to run it much, but from what I have done, I love it. I couldn't be happier with the setup. Of course if I went lipo.... :)

Is that the stock chassis? I need more pics  I am smack in the middle of doing this to my Revo and I need some inspiration "thumbsup"
