Hi,
ok I want to make my first rock crawler but I don't have LOTS of money I'm sort of new to rock crawling I started building R/C cars and truggys wen I was 4 or 5 and then wen I was 8 I started building monster trucks then wen I was 11 I stoped R/C but wen I was 13 I started to do robots and now I (I will not say my age but I'm under 20) want to get back in to R/C but I'm on a tite budget. So now I will get my point how can I make a rock crawler for not motch money? And do thay still brake like thay yosto I had a clod buster (not stock) and the axles brouck all the time:-( :-( ? I have lots of time on my hands so I'm fine with building my parts!

thanks

low budget it doable, you could pick up a pti goliath crawler and be crawling for under $200 if you have radio gear already, the gears are a little weak if you do anything extreme but they are a good beginner. If you have some fab skills, pick up a TLT kit from someplace like RCP crawlers or ultimate hobbies for under $70, some rims and tires from ebay, you could use the stock tranny but its not real good so change it out for a Stealth Tranny or a Stampede (prefered) from ebay for under $50 a good option if you need radio gear is to buy a complete Stampede or rustler and steal the rims, tires, radio, tranny and servos and sell off whats left. TLT shocks are decent from what I know or pick up some t-maxx from ebay. The stock tlt chassis can be used just need to get out the drill and dremel. Use the search button and do allot of reading and you should be able to find some good ideas. No matter how good you build it and no matter how much you spend it will always break.

look on ebay for good deals, i got a clod with full bearing, 2 654 mgs, tekin rebel 2, 2 65turn lathe motors, and about 100 bucks of other stuff for 280, i sold the chasis and wheels and with the proceed i bought a 2.2 pimp cane and some 2.2 moabs + rims. All for 300 buck which isnt that bad

PTI goliath go to RCPcrawlers.com look in the truck kit section, as for the gears Im working on figuring out a steel replacement, maybe tc3 stuff. You'll need a receiver for that transmitter, but its cheapest to get a full set from tower transmitter, receiver, crystals and servos for like $40. thats if you just want 2 channel, 3 ch is the way to go so you can add rear steer but you realy dont have to.

Judging by your spelling, you're still 8, at heart anyway.

If you're on a tight budget, make your own chassis, get some TLT axles, Moab tires, Stampede front wheels, a pede, stealth or xxxt tranny, a 55t motor, Moped ESC, and make some links.

Go through here, theres a few different threads on low budget crawlers.
