Budget electronics for 1/10 crawler?

Probably a stupid question..but are there any well known good / decent budget options? I'd really like to build a kit, but having to buy all the other parts seems pricey. I'm specifically looking at the element enduro, if that matters.

This would be for a 1/10 scale crawler.

I would get the trailmaster sport 550 from Holmes if you can fit it

It fits. I have one in mine. But the Reedy will be a better motor IMO.

The Reedy is probably smoother, but the Holmes will probably have more torque and drag brake.
Both decent budget choices though.

Hobbywing 1080 and trailmaster is a great budget friendly combo.
Look to a 27t motor if you're set on brushed and gear accordingly. Works great on 3s.

I have a 21t HH Trailmaster Sport 550 wedged into my Vaterra Ascender K10 with a HW 1080 ESC - paired with an Amazon special DS3218 servo and a FlySky GT3C radio and receiver, it's amazing how much fun it is.

Sure, I have a brushless Bomber with much higher-end gear in it as well - but I'd be hard-pressed to say which is more enjoyable!

When my TRX-4 fried its ESC, I immediately ordered another TrailMaster/1080/DS combo to drop in it - I'll keep the Traxxas radio for now, for all the convenient switches for shifting and locking the diffs...

ESC - HW 1080 for brushed motors. LOTS of settings, yet small and compact.
Motor - for me, a GoolRC 35T brushed motor from amazon/ebay. FAR better drag brake/hold than RC4WD 35T, and possibly more speed...possibly.
Servo - The DS3218 from amazon/ebay. Powerful, quick enough, and cheap. Order 2 so you have a spare (I should do that).
XT60 connectors.

This is what I have on my Everest 10, along with Duratrax Deep Woods tires (stock wheels) and a 3D printed skid plate/linkage relocation, factory "redcat" (flysky) radio, I run a flysky for airplanes, they work well and cost little! There are probably better motors out there, but the GoolRC is cheap, $10-15 on ebay, and has replaceable brushes, as well as dual ball bearings, compared to most sealed motors that have at least one bushing. I'll buy another if this one dies...

I would go with a Holmes can motor or crawlmaster expert but that's my preference

I'm running a HW 1080 and it's amazing even for a relative noob to rc electronics. I kept the stock ae 5 until it got fried (3 years lol) 1 truck most weekends and at work on the job site.also. The whole programming thing was rather scary and then I learnt about the 1080 and it's dead simple like stupid simple and stupid cheap too. Plug the box in and just play with it. Aaaaaand. . ..... .... no more horrible eeeeeeeee noise any more omg that used to piss me off. It's dam near silent now. I Have a cheap "rebuildable" 35t motor and stock gearing on a old scx10 and it's not bad at all enough speed to be a clown and crack some power slides hear n there but yet can crawl pretty well too could probably play some more and get it better yet now that I think about it but yeah great product.

Not sure if this is recommended now but grab your rx and pop it open and cover it with non conductive grease. Same with the servo not the motor just the board and then fill the gears up too. I have run my truck in water for yonks and yonks and never hurt it same with my nqd jet boat and it's full of water every run an old am radio too lol

There's nothing budget about the Crawlmaster though!
