Rock Crawler
So The Crawl Space is having a drift series at the shop this season. So I decided I wanted a drift car. I love the xv-01 chassis, and I know how to work on it. If drifting isn't my thing, I'll just turn this into another group b rally car for the rally championships... This one was built to be a drifter. It's my first dedicated drift car and I know very little about drifting... This will mainly be used indoors. And I'm not to concerned with protecting the chassis like I am on my rally cars.
-tamiya xv-01 subaru team arai kit
-ABC hobby Nissan Skyline 2000 GT-R body kit.
-tamiya front one way kit
-cheapo drift wheels/tires from rcmart
-no slipper installed on this build (stock xv-01 does not come with a slipper, I'd put one on but I don't have a spare lying around)
-an alloy yeah racing spur gear plate (I had this laying around, and since I didn't put a slipper on, i went fro a little bling)
-bare xv-01 chassis, no need for the xv-01 "dirt guards" or really any of the other chassis protection. no spur cover no belt cover.
-cheap hobbyking electronics.
-stock shocks, stock springs, 22.5 wt oil, short rod ends, 3 hole pistons.
-bad horsie shock covers. I love these things! As long as I have them on hand I'll use them.
-I used proper hex hardware whenever possible, but I didn't have the right number of counter sunk hex screws so I had to use some phillips screws from the kit... This will be fixed as soon as I get the time to order proper hexes...
Overall I hope to be able to tinker with this chassis a little more than I can with my rally cars. Sometimes I'm afraid to tear apart my rally cars in the middle of the season... This drifter though, it'll be more of an experiment.
