Looks way to nice to bash around with.

Who is the artist? This mean anything to anybody?

Anyway, I also got an unpainted betty body with the rig and that is what I am going to paint.

Haven't searched around for that info yet, but if anybody want's to throw up a good link without a lot of clutter to read through, I would appreciate it.

Thanks

Not without alot of practice. Its alot easier to learn from the start. once you have that down then you can welcome yourself to the bigs. Here is a tutorial that everyone wanting to start airbrushing should go through the steps to take. Excellent website as well to learn and ask questions about airbrushing.

Or you can just take a stab at it and youtube a how to do airbrush flames.
good luck to ya.

Zielke does some great paint jobs. That real flame would be a stretch I think for your first paint job. The technique seems simple enough...but having that eye for design and a good airbrush is what makes those flames look the way they do. Try it though and see, you never know. I'm not a painter myself

:lmao:

I was just joking about being that good on my 1st try. The thing does look damn nice.

I will check out some links and just go for a basic 2 tone type paintjob. I just want something the boy can beat around with.

Boy you weren't kidding, Zielke has some killer stuff.

Seeing his website makes me very happy with the deal I got on my rig.

Will your first body look like that one?

" HELL NO " I dont think it will be even close. I think if you could have painted it like that yourself why would you have bought that body from someone else. Hey if you can paint that good you will be making some money pretty soon from now. "thumbsup"

Haha. I got it with a complete setup on ebay."thumbsup"

start out doing regular "flames" not fire. like posted in the above pics, once you got ahold of spraying the paint add a blend to the out side edge of the flame pattern. this is the basic process of painting fire.... once you done a million classic flame jobs. then do the fire.

to paint fire you need to know color theory composition form and light all those big words that i still have trouble understanding! haha

zielke has some allright fire but if you want to see some really badass flamery check out john harris he does photorealistic fire that is just the catsass!! his work makes zielke and my fire look like kindergarten scribbles!

to me there is BIG differance between full size outside painting in just the prepwork and setup to achieve that look and then doing it on scale inside lexan painting! it's an apples to oranges thing to me even though they share the same aspects.

I have been an airbrush artist for over 4 years now with a natural talent and background in art throughout all my life and im 41 now. Todd Kirbey has been my teacher and I have yet to master his art but I have along way to go and enjoy it very much.

I never have claimed to be the best in the business and never will but I have done my share of paint from vector to true flame and I will offer my help and guideance when ever anyone wants it.

I have suggested and will time and time again to go to CFXpaintworks.com to learn how to paint. Charlie Barnes is a fantastic guy, a skilled airbrush artist on the real and lexan bodies, a great friend and is always available to lend an ear and offer his thoughts on a subject to to guide anyone who wants to learn to paint. For the RC airbrush artist there is a tutorial that is set up for a step by step that anyone able to learn will be able to achieve the ability to airbrush with the best of them.

I will tell you first hand HOK (house of Kolor) is one of the biggest distributors as far as reaching the True Flame teaching and technique for the average airbrush artist and professional. In many hobby shops in the states here you can pretty much go to a display that sells the paints and stencils needed.

I know when you go to the Hobby shows that John and Kieth are there putting on a display and selling product which is the best I have seen for scale airbrushers. The hardest thing about painting inside out is understanding the theory of what color goes first, air pressure, humidity, and understanding and opperating a good airbrush that should spray as small as .2mm and as low as 20 P.S.I.

I honestly think that Zielke is one of the best scale guys in the business and his work says it all when it comes to makeing the true flamed shells. thats hard to say as he is my competition, but I highly respect him.
I also believe that adrcracing is another one who is also one of those specialy talented painters when it comes to the true flame art. and again another one of my competitors.

If we are gonna talk about who is the true originator and master at true flame and airbrushing., anyone in airbrushing who is a professional will tell you straight up that Mike Lavallee is the best at the art. His art has been seen on many shows and hired by the best to create his hands down designs expessialy the helicopter he did in such away that people were calling fir and resue to report a heli on fire as it landed only to find out it was only paint. Like I always say, Mike is often imitated, but never duplicated. You can see alot of his work in the link below and he is very good about helping out the fellow artist whom is serious.

Artool currently puts out his stencils and tutorial vids. but
HOK is in conjuction with iwata where you can purchase the stencils, paint, and a DVD on the lessons.
http://www.iwata-medea.com/index.php/artool/artist_profiles_mike_lavalle/

If you are serious about learning, like I said before there are many vids on youtube, but just practicing the basic steps and doing them, understanding your airbrush tools and knowing how to control them will give you a gift you can use anytime you need it or just to make money on the side.

^^^^ great advice

todd is a great guy and i've seen his work improve since he first started posting on rccaraction and cfx... i've seen him do some incredible things with the paint brush. i hope he never goes back to his old job!

also incase you didnt know, mike will admit to this him self. he is not the original creator of fire... there were people before him doing it (now lost to history unless you can do some serious digging) the techinque of overlapping candys and solids came about in the 70's and 80's after the candy colors had been introduced to the market and new techniques were being used.

mike was the one that got hooked up with foose after fixing some pinstripes on a car that belonged to him, with out mike ever knowing it! foose beign the man he is got mike the gig on tlc and the rest is history!

but you put john harris and mike lavalle in a comp and im voting for harris... he just puts more work into his fire and it even fools me! him and dru do some great work and id love to take one of there clases... well dru's class. i've had john show me how to get his "flow" in vegas so i guess im a little biased

I am going to start out with plain old rattle cans - no air brushing yet.

Is Krylon fusion an acceptable paint?

Any other brands?

Thanks
