Hi guys,

Just after some opinions / measurements

I’m starting a new lcg build and currently deciding on axles. I’m in between a set of Capra axles and ar45s

Im not aiming for a comp rig so rules are out the book. This is going to be a cheater rig. Just want to know if I should spend all the money on a set of Capra axles

How much ground clearance does each provide at the diff pumpkin?
Is it worth the money for capra axles?
And what would the lcg guys recommend?

Thanks everyone

I've got a TGH Sherpa with Capra axles and a GSpeed V3 with AR45p's. They crawl about the same (I've got about the same weight in each, though the Capra is set up for 4WS), with the main difference is the clearance at the driveshaft is close to the lower link on the AR45 rig due to the offset pumpkin. The only other thing to consider is are you planning on servo on axle (Capra style) or chassis mount servo. I personally don't really see a major benefit one way or the other with the exception of side hilling which "should" be better on a Capra axled rig with all other factors being the same.

If you’re going straight cheater rig I say Capra. I’ve built quite a few rigs with both axles. I like them each in their own way. My latest cheater is a 4ws gspeed v3 with Capra axles and it’s a blast. Put about 3 hours on it yesterday and it was fun to see when the 4ws helped make a line. I run mine mixed because I don’t comp so it’s a pretty fun to drive.

Thanks guys. I decided on the ar45s. A tonne cheaper. If it’s not a whole lot of difference I won’t be spending the money at the moment.

I also want to remain cms as I’ve never noticed a difference with axle mounted.

Cheers for the help

Why not do the AR45P axles? I built my gspeed with those. Super stable and you can find ‘‘em a little more than the others.
