Carter Fab & Machine Custom Scaler Axle Housings

Ok I thought that would be an issue. I was at my LHS comparing empty housing's.

Was looking at the VP wraith panhard kit. They include a separate/clamping link mount. As seen below.

Would it be possible to fabricate a pair of clamping link/shock mounts to attain scx10 width and proper shock/link location?

That is just for the pan hard mount and attaches to the existing link mount for support. Again, anything can be made but with cost in mind. It would be cheaper to drill and mill flats on the tubes.

SCX width offset front possible? Or close to? Sounded like you were looking at centered, sorry if I misunderstood the last few post.

Well I got bored with the plain looking rear axle so I whipped up a little something. It's not 100% yet but very close. Just lack tie rods. Enjoy

That's the rear axle right? It's just going to be a fake ram? The knuckle pics are throwing me off.

Just answered my own question...You can't have rear steer without knuckles. This post was sponsored by the Jim Beam racing team.

Hahaha. I'm sponsored by Crown Royal and Ron Zacapa.
The ram is just a really nice rear lockout. Have no interest in running functional rear steer, though the controller is already programed and I have everything just in case.

That's just scale porn right there. I really wanted to come up with something like that for the front axle, but can't figure out how to make the ram "Float" with the tie rod changing in relation to the axle (Getting closer while the steering throws). If you can figure something out...let me know. My behind the axle drag link would make for a really scale look.

Also, you can see why I wanted the truss as low profile as I could get.

Let me know if you have any thoughts! I'd love to integrate it if possible.

I'm pretty confident I can make one that will move with the steering. Just need a few rod ends from a Losi MRC. If you're willing to wait, I'll try and get one on yours.

I'd love to try it...Just let me know what parts you want, and they'll be there! The only problem I see is being able to get the gears and locker out for repairs. As long as you've got the clearance there, hell yes!

Make the tube brace removable.
We mock one up mounted to a reversed servo on the stock mount. Works like a champ. But we didn't know about the MRC ends. Defiantly easier than what I had in mind. Lol

Why does the mount need to be removable? Im thinking MRC rod ends cuz of their size alone. You can use standard size but they will look wrong scale wise.

Ohh sorry should have quoted him. It QA commented that it might be in the way of the did cover. Making it un-removable.
Me personally. I like things removable. Idk if it's the fact that it takes more work or just loving inflicting more pain on myself.

Ohh I didn't see that part of his post either.
Come on man, like I would make something that way!! Haha, seriously though. Only way for it to be scale is welded on. Otherwise you end up like factory housings and big bolts everywhere. Every screw for diff service is accessible. Cover clears behind ram. Gears drop right out and that's even with my shaved diff that doesn't allow the ring gear to drop as it rolls out.
My feelings are a little hurt Greg. Lol

I figured You made it open. Just don't think till after I typed. But I also know your good enough with machines to hide them bolts if it was removable.

Don't take an ounce of offense Clay! I'm used to making stupid mistakes like that! I have the fullest of confidence that these bad boys will be perfect. 8)

But hey...just got to thinking...if you do a welded mount for the ram, we decided not to use steel on the short side. I guess we'll have to change that then right?

Nope, already thought around that and will be done similar to the way I've set them up on crowded front ends of a 1:1. Still be fully welded and strong, and clean.
