allrite, i have a radioshack carnivore(previously the monster patrol i belive). but anyway i need some cheap modifacation ideas that are easy to make.

i dont have a digital camera but heres a link to what they kinda look like. basicaly front and rear independent suspension, 4x4, short travel, non locking diferentials, low ground clearence. im only 14 so i cant go buy a big bad crawler, ill just have to go with what i got.

Yea, there's not a whole lit you can do with it really. You wold have to be extremely creative to do anything with it and still you would be throwing good money into something you wouldn't get it back out of. It's best to save for a TLT and start a real crawler.

actualy i already did some stuff to it like i added about 1/2'' of lift and about 1'' of articulation. the thick a arms are what limit the travel so i cut out sections of it with my knife. i found a digital camera to use so i will post pics after while

Cool, gotta start modding somewhere. I started the same way. Eventually you will get ya a TLT or something from Ultimate Hobbies and start your crawler and then you will be hooked for ever. "thumbsup"

Lock the diffs. Take the axles apart, and fill the diffs with polyfiller, worked a charm on my buddies truck. "thumbsup"

the problem with that is its all independent suspension so theres not an axle to work with

Why are yall doin it the hard way? Take the diff apart and take one spider gear and wedge it between the other two and put the diff back together. Works perfectly and it's reversable. "thumbsup"

you can make a independent suspension act like a straight axle look at the look around on the maxx crawlers on here for ideas unless you want to do alot of work youself do like they said get a tlt

so far i locked the rear diff. basicaly i opened it then wedged some painters tape in it. the tape binds the gears so it locks now. i didnt want to use jb weld or anything like that b/c i didnt want it to be permanent in case it didnt work. the front will be a future project. and yall said throw it away. it works perfectly fine.

I have played around with one of those before, not bad for what it is. It uses a silver can 540 in it, try geting a 65 turn lathe motor for it. Around $25, and it's not $$ wasted 'cus U will need it for the next crawler U build"thumbsup" The lathe motor will slow it down for ya and give U more TQ for crawlin'.

where can i find that motor and how will i put it in. is it as simple as take old one out, put new one in?

U can make it into a crawler, ive got exactly the same car, a lil hard work and a few $$ it works fine im rebuilding mine at the moment so if u want pm me n i will try n get u some photos i have made my own chassie just bought some links ect servos i locked the front and the rear diff i will give u a hint twin lockers n a 55t lathe wont work in these cars i tryed it i broke all my axles in 15 mins not cool had to wait for like another 2 weeks to get more but i still breake them once i put the standerd motor in so be carfull if ur going to lock the front i just soldered the sun gears (spider gears) together if i want to unlock them i just heat it back up n melt the solder off as easy as that ;-)

im only 16 and im saving some more money once i finsh the rebuild so i can get a tlt :lol:
