''Cherokee To Chuggy'',a AMW built SCX10 2

Nice work Gavin"thumbsup".

To give some perspective to the other parents that may be reading this, at the time when the roof was cut off, Gavin was 15 years old.

And thank you to Shelby (4xFord) for the infusion of crawler parts last year that provided Gavin with this interior and me with some needed inspiration.

Awesome build. I’m going to be tearing apart one of my ascenders so my daughter 4.5, and I can build it together and make it her own. Very nice design and metal work. How much does this rig weigh? Are you kit welding the joints? Some look like kit but others look like tig or brazing. Keep up the good work!

Thanks Ben! All the joints are Tig welded and the weight as it sits today with more metal weighs 7.72 pounds RTR so i would guess that at this stage of the build it weighs around 7 pounds.

Pics of the Chuggy together!
I added lights, boatsides panels, and my Mom made me the fabric top.

After one year of hard driving the first axle shaft broke. These axles have great strength over the old axial SCX10 axles.

Breakage:shock:
So I broke the three locker bolts right off. I replaced the stock locker with a Vanquish Products locker and then stripped the three bolts off AGAIN. So I then new that the Three bolt would never hold so I Tig Welded the ring gear to the locker. The rear locker bolts broke to so I Tig Welded the rear as well. These Welded spools are still turning wheels to this day."thumbsup"

wow this is an awesome build.

I had not even considered the Pit bull tires but see how they wear and look, I really like that and will have to pick up a set.

Are you running the 1.9s? How heavy is your truck? Im still trying to figure out what foams will work best for my SCX10.2

Yes I am running the pitbull 1.9 Rock Beast Link to- PitBull Tires -I am running.
The Chuggy Weighs 7.72 pounds and I run these foams.

So I wasn't happy with the rear upper links. I tried the links in the stock skid plate and didn't like it. I then tried Tig Welding higher chassis mounts to the frame and the axle still swayed side to side. So I Tig welded new chassis tabs for new rear upper link mounts with more triangulation and shorter links. The axle does not sway with the new chassis mounts and the Chuggy drives alot better.

These pictures don't show the rear upper links that well but I have better pics to post in time and New Stickers On The Chuggy."thumbsup"

Nice. Any reason why you are not running the xl version? Just curious. Since your rig is now open wheel and all...
