Chip's 1976 Jimmy

Really nice ride Chip! I love the older bodystyles.

I just picked up a '90 Jimmy about a month ago. Factory EFI 5.7, Holley TB/intake, LT headers, catback, beefed up OD trans (not sure which one), LS rear, 3" BL, & 33" mud terrains. Im using it as my DD/work truck though, not for wheelin'...

Atlas and STaK are your only options for gear reduction. I hav e a STaK in mine, mainly because I built it from scratch personally (used to work there) and i LOVE it. Though i use 3.05 rarely it does come into play when sand and mud are around. 5.44 is spectacular. IF they can get their shit togather the STaK would be the way to go. (if you watch pirate at all you know what i am talking about.) If not, Atlas is a very nice unit too, and proven.

PS. nice find. GMC are very rare. my buddy has a 75 GMC (full convert) same clolor scheme, 350/350/205 12/44 locked. many good times.

Damn Chip that is a sweet Jimmy!"thumbsup"

That's a sweet find Chip it's soooo clean and well preserved.

Thanks Guys!
That is just wrong and nasty.

My favorite color scheme.

Thanks for the input on your Stak case.

Well, I found a DBC 5.3 so it looks like the LS motor is a go! I have spent the last two days browsing the net looking for parts like LS to SBC motor mounts, fuel pumps, radiators, fans and such. I will post some pictures as the swap starts. I am going to leave the wiring harness so I can swap in a 4L80e and the NP205 at a later date.

Theres some software programming for the pcm that needs changed if you do go to a 4l80 down the road. It's not a big deal just takes the correct program and know how to do it. Throw a cam in the 5.3 and you'd be surprised how much it will wake that guy up. "thumbsup"

I kinda figured the PCM would need some work for the 4L80e. Got a suggestion on a cam Jason ? I do not want a hot rod but if I get into it I want it to move. It has 4:56 gears and will be on 37 inch MK2 I should not need any more gearing. I am going to run long tube headers and that should help out a good bit from what I was told. The LS motors love long tube headers.

There's so many cams out there to choose from it'll make your head spin. :ror: We stuck a pretty mild comp cams (can't remember the numbers but nothing very big) into a 5.3 in a buggy just like my old one, after that he could hang with my stock ls1 in a drag race. Pretty much turned into who could get the jump off the line. You won't be sorry with the LS style engine, so much potential. "thumbsup" And yes long tubes on the LS motors is a major bonus. "thumbsup"

For some reason I thought Ford was the only one with the floor switch. :???: I guess I was wrong. I loved having that thing, you felt like you were doing something when putting on the high beams!

Nice truck Chip and what a damn fine find! "thumbsup"

I think the steering wheel should stay and am loving the dash.

My dads 69 z/28 has a floor switch"thumbsup"
