Coming soon RC4WD desert runner

only downer to inboarding the shocks would be the leverage effect making the suspension effectively softer. might need to up the oil weight and MAYBE re-spring. maybe.
good idea though.

as far as longer rod end, what if you reduced the upper mount some how, like having the shock go THROUGH the upper mount and bolting on top instead of underneath, effectively re-positioning the shock higher, and out of the way of the steering.

It should make for a ‘stiffer’ setup.

Looking at the way the ‘struts’ are mounted, you could essentially add a top mount spacer/puck lift on top of the ‘strut’ and under the cup. Just like a 1:1.

Resized pic from earlier.

Would it be possible for an entire lift kit like this to be printed and bolted on? That’d be too damned cool if it could happen.

Could the lower control arm be redesigned and printed so that the lower shock mount is more inboard? Giving the shocks a more vertical mounting position and possibly making enough room for additional steering throw and suspension travel?

Yup, plenty of room to make up something better.

Any other online retailers have this in stock ? RC4WD's shipping cost is steep to me.

I don't think at this time. The trucks are coming from Hong Kong, so there is your shipping cost.

that's pretty damn impressive about the adjustable reservoirs though!

** this image right here. MONEY. i actually pictured a scale dirtbike strapped in would totally complete the look of this truck. AWESOME!

All that suspension stuff could be accounted for by someone that knows what to do in CAD or a machinist.
Yeah, I was surprised the reservoirs were functional.

Thank you. Did you get the length by chance? I’m curious if they’d work on the TF2.
Off the hip, I am thinking around 40-60mm. Can measure later today.

i like where your head is at. "thumbsup"
but i am pretty sure moving shocks in on the lower arm makes suspension softer.
and the lift kit and bumper relo seems like a good first upgrade. along with wheels/tires.
i just want to see actual bumper replacement options in the future.
some nice stuff out there for the 1:1.

9mm scales to about 3.5”+/-?

LOL that's a HUGE pistol round!!! :lmao:

i get it too it just looked funny

A guy on FB has already designed and printed a 9mm spacer lift kit with a front bumper relocation mount. haha I think he is on RCC but can't recall the name. He is offering the print file for free, I believe.

same page has a TF2 with adjustable ride height (servos). gives me ideas for a hero fun-haver...

Yep. I was thinking about my Bomber and Yeti. Moving the top to make it more vertical and not the lower mount. Angles, leverage, yada yada.

Hey Shane,
Couple questions, maybe I've missed the answers. Is it running 1.9's and whats the OD of the stock tires? Want to start planning my wheel/tire combo.

Shocks eye to eye are ~ 47mm-64mm. Compressed, extended.

88-ish mm stock tars, 1.9 beadlocks.

97-ish mm with 8mm lift but do rub up front on turns.

That's a bummer. I'd be flipping those U-bolts over though.

Not really a bummer as the rear end is leaf setup is butter smooth to me. Good call on the u-bolt swap. I am about to imbark on a dreaded body prep and paint chore for this body/interior. I hate sanding and painting.

I hate painting as well. By far my least favorite part of the hobby.

I think the plastic helpers will actually help reduce spring warp.

More than metal would?

I'd be most concerned about the plastic clamps, but those would be fair easy to fabricate out of metal.

Yhe current u bolt setup is actually true to the 1:1. That's how they look on a real raptor.

So its Saturday night. I'm goofing off early and already watched imthatguy's in boxing vid.
Dude... Hahaha I felt for you trying to find that 3mm hex wrench. I don't have one either so... Thanks for teaching us that valuable lesson to would-be owners of the desert runner.

Otherwise great vid!
The magnet was neato. The question about heated steering wheel and climate controls nearly had me on the floor!!! Hahaha!

So yeah the vid was not a total failure. We learned a lot. Big battery tray too! And that's very cool what you are doing with the body ;)
That said, hurry up and cut/shut the frame for that foreigner body!!!

I'm super convinced I need one now. Somebody trade me for my ronco turkey rotisserie???

That was annoying. And even more so, it's a 4mm bolt required to make the part, which I did. Off camera. The brake calipers and discs are cool, but so close to every other wheel I have, they may not work unless I use their plastic wheel pin doo-dads. I think I'll cut the frame today. Nothing like destroying a toy I've never even run.
