I have been interested in possible buying a new CPU so I can race on iracing.com. The issue is requirements needed to run it, Ive got no clue what computers to look at and prices. Here is list of what's needed for there program. My goal is to try to keep cost below 400 hopefully. Just CPU is needed.

*· Windows XP, Windows Vista, or Windows 7
*· Hyperthreaded Intel CPU, AMD Athlon 64 CPU, or any dual-core CPU
*· 128MB Pixel Shader 2.0 (ATI 9700Pro or nVidia 6600 or better); 256 MB Pixel Shader 3.0 (ATI X1600 or nVidia 6800 GT/GS or better recommended) graphics adapter
*· 1 GB system RAM
*· 3Gb free hard disk space

thanks

ASUS is the way to go. I am not up on it a much as I would like, or as my brother-in-law. I have had 2 ASUS desktops, my wife has an ASUS laptop, my brother-in- has had 1 ASUS tower, has 2 ASUS laptops, and has 3 ASUS towers.

The do make some really nice laptops (gaming versions too) with great features, and great displays. The 3 laptops we all have were bought off of eBay and they are great.

I have an ASUS 2.8ghz cpu with 16MB of ram, a separate video, and sound car.

He has a gaming systems with an ASUS 3.2ghz cpu, and who knows what inside, and mine speed wise kicks his butt.

Do some research online for their laptops. On eBay you can get a nice ASUS for $300-400. Like I said, all kinds of goodies, and the display is awesome.

ur really gonna get what u pay for, my theory is get more then what u want then it will do what u want for longer... computers are out dated within like 3 months, so i say get the best u can afford.

im running,
windows7
2.9gig quad core
12g ram
2gig nvidia
2 terrabye hard drive

I mean whole computer/tower. I'm replacing my old system w this but trying to on a budget.
You should really look into a barebones kit. I bought what I needed from Tiger Direct for $300....Asus MOBO, Athlon CPU, 1TB HDD, plenty of RAM, Video card, power supply....
