This happen a few days ago, it officially crepped me out. On Friday night, I called about a floor jack I saw on craigslist. I spoke with the person selling the jack, I told them as long as it worked 100% I'd take it for the advertised price. They gave me the address and I set a time to be at their house the next morning and ended the call.

The next day I'm ready to leave for the place, I activate Google Maps and go to type in the address to plot a course. All I did was type in the first digit of the address and Google spits out the complete address for me.

I'm not sure what to make of this. When I started to type in the address, it was the first time I typed it in. The only previous mention of the address was verbally. Has anyone else had this happen to them?

That happens to me with advertising. The other day my wife and I went shopping for a new grand cherokee. Lo and behold my phone starts showing me grand cherokee ads. I thought it was just me going crazy...but I think they ARE watching. It has happened to me before but I don't recall what it was.

*puts tinfoil hat on* a few weeks ago my fiancé and I were talking about getting a tent for our wedding and yup, a place advertising a tent for weddings popped up a few days later.

it is creepy

If you search something with Google it remembers what you search and how often you search it. The algorithm they use is pretty scary. Phones will also store searches. So if you searched an address on the net before you used the map app then it knows you now want to find how to get there and gives that searched address as the first option.

Make a couple of searches for something like a frig then go to a site that runs Google ads, you will see ads for frig's. Works for YouTube as well. My kids use the YouTube app on my phone and for days I get suggested videos for stupid cartoons they watch.

If you seach for a lot of similar things it learns your taste and starts to re rank searches based on that. Put it this way, Google knows what type of p0rn you like lol.

that happens with my desk top at home, not that I have a dumb phone just a flip as I don't have service where I live....I can do a search and look at something, next I know it is plastered all over the forum here in these ads that are here....

Get an App called Data ON/OFF, you can turn off your data connection while you are on the phone and it never records or stores anything via a data connection, it also saves you a shit ton of data usage when you are not using your phone.

It's google, they are all about prediction. If you noticed go on google maps on your pc then look at google now on your phone it will have a card that you can use to launch directions to the place you were looking at on google maps on your pc.
