The revs the motor has to survive is now even lower by a little bit. They only run 1000' now.

Yup, they mandated longer shutdown areas after some deaths and since most tracks can't expand all tracks are 1000' now. Any record set recently isn't comparable to the past.

A couple of years ago at the Pomona Winter Nationals, they said that nothing accelerates as fast as the top fuel dragsters, not a dam thing! Saw a documentary that went through all the drag tech stuff, and they said the same thing.
