"thumbsup"Im new to the delrin thing, just wondering if anybody could tell me what size tube i need to slide over 6/32 all thread ? i want to make my own links.

Just guessing,I would say a 3/16" I.D. would fit #6 rod fairly well. I can check with my calipers in a minute when I go back to the shop.

Are you wanting to cut threads for the #6 rod or sleeve a solid section?

I always buy the tubing that's 1/4" OD and it's about 3/32" ID and then cut my pieces to length, then run the appropriate sized drill bit straight down the center to open it up to fit whatever thread I want to sleeve over. Because of it already being hollow down the center, the drill bit runs true all the way through it.

To find acetal tubing that has a large enough hole down the center to not have to enlarge the ID, would probably mean the OD would be larger than what you'd want.

BTW...6-32 thread is 1/8" diameter strong.

Another reason it's good to buy tight on the ID and drill out what you actually need is because some places round off their measurements of the ID. Take McMaster for example...they say that their 1/4" OD tubing is 1/8" ID...well it's not, it's 3/32"

All mass produced tubing has what they call a "theoretical I.D.", basically it is an estimate. They take the O.D. minus the wall thickness and in some mathematical way they get the approx I.D.

everything said in this thread is accurate.

best link setup IMHO: revo ends, 8/32 all thread, 1/4 steel tubing. BOMB PROOF.

Fixed it for you"thumbsup"

If it's a porky super with long links, substitute the #8 all thread with #10 and use big 1:8 buggy ends"thumbsup"
