Different front and rear tire combos?

Anyone using two different tire combos for the front and rear on their crawler(not different foam combos but two different tread desgns front to back) If you do would like to hear what combo you went with.

I used ruptures up front and chissles out back on my e10 for years mostly cause the size difference gave it a touch of overdrive
The thing would climb a rock
Is that a cheaper way to net some overdrive up front ?
I would think it would cost more then the gears needed.
Maybe not the case if you had 2nd hand or used tires to throw up front ?
I'm just trying have a more defined understanding of doing it that way ?
What say you ?
 
It's common on sportsman rigs to run a narrowed pin out back and a lugged tire up front. More traction up front and the rear slips but predictable and smoothly due to the pins. It's not as big of a deal these days now that there are options to gain overdrive up front but it was handy to have less traction out back when climbing steep rock. Too much rear traction and it'll tend to flip over

Redcat everest 10 axles don't have a overdrive or underdrive option the front tires were about 6" od and the rear 5.5 od so effectively giving the front just a bit more speed at some point it got new axles and matching sized set of riptures out back

Never had 0ne of those so I had no clue.

I did however buy/have a Redcat everest-16 <-- I thunk it was ?
Used it to make my 1/6 scale rock quad ;-)

The e10 uses a clone of the og scx10 axles and although alot of parts are interchangable it takes a lot of modding to get everything to play nice and then your still stuck with junk so I let it be for about 5 years before replacing both axles

Excellent info. Something to think about for sure.
