Direct electronics vendor challenge!

Would you buy an engine sound simulator for your RC?

I know it sounds nutz, but what about a small motor, like the vibrator in a cell phone (without the offset weight)
wired to the battery with a high volt ceramic resistor and caps to limit the rpm/noise, and wired to the running motor
with a HV limiting diode to prevent feedback just to read the ripple off of??

ESC sends power to the running motor, and the small one revs up too now, right???
(can you tell electronics and math are not strong points in my life?)

Need another diode to power the soundracer off of the running batt tho, unless it has its own source. (getting weight heavy now)

Sorry, i just woke up. But its the first thing I thought of today, and I just want to try and test things out....
or I am going to have to admit I actually use the soundracer in my 6cyl 02' Chevy Malibu????

DONT make me have to admit that guys! Damn thing makes ya use a TON of extra gas,
but its funny the looks you get gunning it at stop lights, with the windows down and the radio maxed out hehehehe....

Guys look over at you like... NO WAY, NAAA ... NO WAY........ but WTF????

i personally dont think this is possible using a tweeter, small speaker, etc...
maybe if you need the sound of a "motor" then get a nitro model?

Well, it needs to be fed voltage at about 12-14 volts, so micro chip couldn't send a signal directly, it have to switch a fet or something

I don't think pwm would work, it reads the ripple in the voltage...the pulses of power(from the alternator) in a given time frame. It doesn't measure the length(width) of the pulse.

Also comes the question of how to fake the ripple, i'm thinking maybe have a constant 13 volt line going to it, then put a 14 volt line through a fet, and feed ppm into the fet. But i'm not sure how well that work

It will work off of a 7.2 (6cell) batt for source voltage.
Its the only thing I managed to test out so far.

I gator clipped it all together with a real tiny "walkman" type radio and a
magic bullet speaker "as seen on TV". (minus the direct output hack)

When it gets powered up, it puts out the FM signal IDLE-ing sound,
but needs the ripple differential to find top end and set its rev/rpm curve.

Come On Losikid! Im only messing with ya because
I KNOW YOU CAN DO THIS STUFF, if ya get poked hard enough!

Im sorry if I have pissed ya off a bit.
But I concider guys like you an INVESTMENT in the future of RC!

And we will lose "interest" in our investment quickly
if people just give up on ideas like this.

You truly do have ALL MY RESPECT, Losikid.

Your doing some kick-ass stuff on your end already........

Dude, dont make me take back what I said about Canadians
being able to help with this idea........

I have six square inches in my Impala interior (16 x 16 cm, 4 cm high)

I can put a reasonably decent speaker and amplifier in that space,
and the sound will reverberate down off of the body shell onto the ground
where it belongs.

They got some pretty kickass speakers/amps in the 6 inch range
now-a-days..........

Radio Shack just started stocking ARD kits too,
and I just asw a 10 watt amp kit on the shelf that runs on 9v batts.

And as far as running gassed engines for the sound.......... WTF dude?

Im sorry if you find this post offensive, but it has to be said.

Cogfounder, you really got on my nerves a few posts back and I think its pretty shameful for you to think that this product should be had at $50.00

The bigger part is that somehow you feel because if whatever business you had that allowed you to retire at 35 makes you feel like Americans are lazy because someone wont make a product for you at your price.

I got news for ya. I dont make a 1000% profit on anything I sell. Further more what you fail to understand is that a product like this involves buying and putting together hundreds of pieces from different manufacturers, spend the time involved to jigsaw it together, test it, and do it again until its right. Only to sell a few hundred units if that?
And to a smaller market than what crawling is to the RC market.

Certainly name calling and calling out vendors for your cause isnt a plus to motivate production. So ya might want to think about that as well.

I think the few electronics guys we have here now have been to say the least more that willing to work with you, but dont say WE as if all of us are on board to what your wanting in a sound board.

Personaly, if I am gonna invest in something like that, im willing to pay for whats already on the market in the higher end soundboards, And YES I have been wanting one.

Im not sure if you were refering to RAM being out of the UK, they are out of Round Lake, Il.
I believe this is who you were refering to.

Fact is, anyone in europe or anerica is selling that in which is made in China, hong kong, japan, ect. Its made there because the parts are made there, ceaper, and are more accessible than here. It most certainly helps when that company pays thier workers crap and they are the ones making a 1000% profit selling it to the US/europe markets.

Ya want to motivate better products in the US at an affordable price.
Rally up your efforts, spend most of your life telling the public to not buy anything from any form of retail chain.

And maybe if you win, then maybe it will bring back jobs to the US to get your soundboard made at your price.

Be realistic buddy and dont bash the guys for trying to help you.
Buckle down and spend the money on the quality board if its available.

I most certainly have from losikid, heyOK, and Tzi
Well worthy every penny. And im not rich!

Oooor, take your equity you've made by retiring early and contract an EE to tackle the project. Since it should be "no problem" to get it where you want it for a stripped down version, then once it's done you should have no problem recooping your investment by either selling the design to a vendor or having 1000 produced and sell them to a distributor. Keep the 100 you will ever need for yourself, make a profit and walk away.

Remember this should be no problem for a true 'Merican!

I guess you can try this, makes no sense at all though

Where the HELL did I put down, or call out any venders on this forum? (OK, I think Losikid can do this, my bad)

NOBODY here puts out a system even remotely related to the one WE are talking about. YES I SAID WE!!!!!

Or am I some alien whose 20 buck membership
means my thoughts are less than some 100 buck guy
who just keeps saying things cant be done?

This is something any high school or collage kid
could do in electronics class with print-out resist paper
on an etch board!

AND IT WOULDN'T COST NO HUNDRED BUCKS EITHER!

Its funny too, because I allways viewed Team3six as a company that charged a fair price for their products.

Dont tell me this cant be done for under 50 bucks.
And remember, I said a seperate speaker and amp
to keep costs down for the chip...

Impossible is just a big word thrown around by small men who find it easier to live in the world they've been given than to explore the power they have to change it. Impossible is not a fact. It's an opinion. Impossible is not a declaration. It's a dare. Impossible is potential. Impossible is temporary. Impossible is nothing.

You made me sad today. I hope your happy about that.
Thats what you wanted, right?

What a very adult way you chose to deal with
this situation. Ill bet your parents are very proud
of the way they raised you right now........

OH BTW, it would be called an altinator.
You know, the ripple current source................................................

OK, Im done.

You win. It cant be done.

Our 'Merican guys just dont have the skills.

But GOD help us,
Theres sure is a bunch of excuses over actual effort.

One thing WE are good at is, crushing dreams
and ideas.

GOD bless the USA........ sure needs it.

WELL DONE! RIH:roll:

Impossible is trying to convince people that they CAN DO!

Well you need to go back and read what you have written. Thats why I saud what I said.

If it is so easy to do, then do it yourself.
Go hire an electronics engineer and have them design it.
Go spend your money making them and sell them for under $50.00

You should as Harley said be able to clean house.

And by they way. I did do something with losikid.
He came together with my idea and took it to the next level.

He should be selling them very soon.

im sure if a "Game" can produce sound, then one can be made in an RC
LFS: BMW M5 V10 engine complete simulation - YouTube

Funny how people bitch about stuff we make in RC being stolen and backward engineered in China.

Yet some people dont realize how many people and time engineering went into producing some of the products mentioned in here.

So now its alright to take someone products and backward engineer that?

Nice!

These electronics wiz's deserve the money they make.
Trying to make things that people say is easy to make but can be made by themselves.

Just saying!

If it can be made, then great. But YOU HAVE TO BE REALISTIC.

i didnt say i could make one myself, jeezus! chill out bruh'
im just sayin that it could be made in a way of some form, but i wouldnt say it would be of REAL v8 quality sound.
quite honestly > i wouldnt want it....after listening to that sound clip i provided got to my nerves before it ended. lol

If this is true, in a short semester or two your product should be on the market as I'm sure you'll be signing up for classes in the fall ...
