Rock Crawler
After a few months reading this thread on a daily basis and watching vids on the tube, I finally made a step ahead and bought a berg from a member here and I'm trying now to put it the way I want it.
I want to get things right : I'm rebuilding it with what my money can afford now and pretty open to advices but be kind : it's my first MOA crawler...
At the origin, it was a T1E rockshow and though I've seen how capable that chassis was, I already had plans for a spare part I owned :
I have a question : what's the best lenght (comp spec.) for the upper links ? I noticed that longer ones on rear side gives you some clocking of the axle... ;-)
That chassis comes with delrin T1E lower links giving some unity to the build of my spider :ror:
I had to grease again the axles and I used that opportunity to know better the inside of the monster. I love that raw aspect !!!
rear axle :
The whole machine came with duratrax shocks (3.5") loaded with losi springs, gray and gold... It appeared that these shocks were too short for the YTC chassis and I rapidly ordered Axial XR10 ones...
Front axle :
The front axle came with a delrin OTA steering, high clearance VP knuckles and D-Lux knuckles weights "thumbsup" I swapped the servo for the one I had in my MRC Pro. looking good so far...
I should feed the axles with some nice new matched 55t handwound JP Warriors motors. Front should be mounted on 14t, rear on 13t to get some wheelspeed...
For the moment, I'll stick with the wheels I got buying it... I may paint them or give them some shine !
DNA stuff (to be changed... :twisted
Crawler Innovations Foams
and Rovers !!!
I may swap for some Losi Boss Claws in the future...
To drive this rig, I wanted to spend the less money possible and found out it could be driven with a dual stick transmitter. I'll have a look on the thread showing you how to setup this :
a DX6 i had laying around with its cute tiny receiver...
I also have the body panels to cut and paint, haven't decided what color I want to go with but noticed on a few pics I got here and there that the prettiest rigs were those with the simplest color scheme or deco (thinking about a bright pastel orange :twisted
that could go with some orange beadlocks !!!
I'm missing something ? No, I have it : the esc !!!! 2 micro mamba pro with CCBEC that were working with a "Losikid" modded transmitter and receiver. On how to connect all this, I may need your help guys. It's already done but wished it was cleaner.
to be continued...
