DLUX super build

Oh, forgot to mention. When taking everything apart I fond a bent CVD pin? Normal, defect or was I being too hard on this car already?

Maybee its the way I drive or the rock we comp on but I had to replace my gunner pins after every comp because they were completely bent. So bent that they required alot of effort to remove. If left in two comps they would fail completely while on course. I had the same issue with the rc4wd pins.

I switched to a differant pin and after a few comps now they are still straight and true. Just saying.

What pin did you switch too?

I can't remember the part #. But its a 2.5mm dowel pin and I ordered them just one size longer than what the stock is and ground them down to fit. They have worked great. Haven't seen one break. I will see if I can find the part #.

So....you doing a complete redesign or just beating the piss out of this thing?
Neither unfortunately.

I didnt want to drive it early last week because of all the axle issues and I didnt want to risk blowing up the ESC without first trying my 45t motors I just ordered... then, I had to go out of town and I just got back in town tonight. Hopefully I will be able to drive it once or twice this week before our next 801 comp.

I am excited to try out the car with the new stuff. Links, axle upgrades and motors have big expectations on them. The motors are Brood 45t with stand up brushes. If I read it right, the stand up brushes should increase torque and reduce the amp draw over a lay down brush. Also Eddie suggested it so I rolled with them.

I have been working on this in my "spare" time. Not much time to work on it or post up but there are some changes.

45t motors turned out as good as expected. I am really happy with them. They have quite a bit more torque and ironically feel like they have more wheel speed than my 35t motors. If I were rich, I would try some motors in the 50-55t range just to see how I like them. I am happy where I am at for now though. Sidewinders seem much more happy too.

Rear 1/4" TI is night and day better. I can actually see what my suspension and link geometry is doing now so I can start tuning.

Knuckle bearings are working great in the king pin and the red loctite on the bearings is still tight and working awesome.

Lowering it down as low as i can get it with this chassis is feeling good right now. I am getting the feeling that I may want the option to lower it a touch more in the future. I may order carbon fiber soon. It would be nice to lose the weight also.

I also changed out my zebra skins for something less zerbraish.

Overall I am super happy with the car right now.

Oh, forgot to add... I was just not feeling the Boss claws in the back of this thing. I actually dont run them too often on my 2.2 either, just one or two spots that I crawl. 53 hooked it up again and got me another set of Sedonas yesterday. After running them I am sold! I love them front and rear. Made the car feel so much better. I am sure the BC's will be good in their normal locations though. Now I just need him to work on a front pair of BC's.... LOL

I would like to lose some weight on this thing already. Its feeling good but I like my cars as light as possible except on the knuckles. I know one big place that I am storing weight over some of the other supers is in my wheels. I am not about to give up on the tunability of my wheels and I am really liking them, but they need to go on a diet. I have read that some of the HPI wheels are coming in close to 2oz??? With mine weighing in at 3.4oz I have a bit of work to do.

First off, I switched all my hardware out to AL hardware. This gave me a loss of approx .4oz per wheel. Not too bad. Now the wheel should be 3oz straight up. As soon as I figure out what wheel width I like, I will make some delrin spacers to lose more weight. I think I could get it down another .5oz?
