Do any of you know what a truggy is?

It's like the new HPI truck, a buggy with truck tires and a truck body

^^ I work at Terrible Herbst woot! I do oil changes. We have one of the buggies at our shop, doesnt run anymore though. Kids about 4 years ago would be driving it down Flamingo at 90 MPH.

Something like this: (also what I plan on doing to my MJ during the next year)

mnster, way off. Silvia you too. Esteban you know whats up. Though I think that example is all tube. If I'm not mistaken. But I love that thing! ClodKing you are right too, but not the meaning I'm looking for. BtoB not sure what you are talking about. Nitro you hit the nail on the head with your first pic but the second in not a truggy. It still has the truck frame in back.

I like them a lot.

Yep - like the first one as well but not sure if I can get the back end converted any time soon. Have not been able to wheel the current XJ and have had it for about 2 1/2 years as an ongoing project and now have to switch it all over to the MJ. Figure for now I can convert the MJ kind of like a combination of both pictures just so I can get it out on the trail sometime in the future.

Don't see a flatbed on the back of the first image I posted - or back part of frame. The one you show has a frame out back. Yeah it has a lot of tube on it though....

Well if you look at the all famous Hot Bodies LSP that is a truggy .A much better one would be the Jammin X1-CRT . An explanation would be , a flat pan chassis with appx, .05 degrees of kick up in the front of course . That takes care of the chassis , now on to the tranny . Most noticable would be the 1/8 scale center diff with the same scale front and rear . I personaaly don't think eother of them should be called a "Truggy" , cause besides the center diff and wing all they have is a truck body on them . The infamous truck to look @ would be UE"s "razorback" check on www.unlimitingengineering.com and look for the thread called "Razorback Revealed" . Hope I am helping .

A truggy is a 1/8 scale race buggy with monster truck tires on it. They use them for racing because the CG is alot lower than a T-Maxx when they first started racing MT's.

we talkin' about RC or 1:1? anyways....

in RC a truggy is defined by the center diff (no transmission gear reduction) and the larger "Maxx" sized wheels/tires. Then of course the truck body, but it's the wheels/tires and the drivetrain that make it a truggy.

Purpose built truggies also have a longer chassis and A-arms [than a buggy]

throw a center diff in a Savage and it's a truggy. Nothing to do with the chassis.
