Do you believe in God,Heaven or Hell?

Definition of being crazy/stupid...... repeatedly doing/arguing the same thing expecting different results.

Abrahamic religions teach us the human is separate from God and you must worship to gain favor of God or be punished.

Indigenous beliefs teach us God is within us, within all things, we are One and all things should be treated with the same respect.

The former is taught, but the latter is implied. If all things come from God, all things are God. There can be nothing less.

You're assuming that results are expected...

You're assuming that results are expected...

Without assuming the expectation factor repeatedly pronouncing the same thing pretty much only leaves option for one sided opionated preaching or just being that annoying drunk guy that always repeats himself :lmao:

Unless maybe you have a different answer to why an individual would endlessly do and or argue the same thing over and over and over???

I thought the object of thread was to get to know each other, and share our beliefs. Knowing is part of understanding. The only ones that seem to argue are the ones that firmly believe in nothing, like anyone would, should take the time to convince them of anything. I have not the crayons, nor the time to convert anyone to my beliefs.

Good point.

There's no other valid or plausible explanation.

So it must be the work of a god, even though there's actually no evidence to suggest it was....

So who created god then?

Can’t answer that, but in my opinion, the Bible is still more believable then a “big bang” and a “common ancestor” and there is written evidence from people in multitudes who witnessed the events, and ways to prove many of these things had happened.

Call it a thought experiment or a mental exercise. I've learned enough over the years that I can competently argue either side.

In the end, it's part of the greatest question ever asked. Sometimes it's just fun to discuss it.

I believe it's one in the same.
The Big Bang is the Creation story.
All things came into existence at that moment.
As to why... heck if I know.
The thought that God wanted to experience Life resonates with me...
As I believe that is why we are here, to experience emotions, to grow, to learn.
Then when these bodies die, our soul carries that information back to the source and downloads it into the Universal Conscious.
Then, we get back in line for another ride...

I guess that my other big beef with the more extremist religious nuts is their mind numbing hypocrisy.

Shall I say it again, what the hell do you think created this earth? Some random explosion? How did people come around? Animals? Find me another explanation.
I don't have any beliefs on those subjects, but I do find the idea that some magic character poofed the universe, people and animals into existence, and later, in a manner contrary to the modern understanding of genetics, populated the planet with a tiny group of individuals and animals that survived a global flood in an unbuildable boat, an unevidenced flood that killed the dinosaurs in a manner that only *appears* to be 65 million years ago, because the Earth is really only somehow 6000 years old to be completely absurd and unbelievable.
Try to sway me.

I don't know the specifics of your religious beliefs, but I have yet to come across any that can be the conclusion of rational arguments or scientific evidence. So if that is not how you came to your beliefs, what on Earth might sway you otherwise?

I personally believe in God because the events of my life have given me a revelation of a higher power. One does not just "find" God. Certain circumstances lead to a personal leader, guide, and friend. I have also debated this topic many times, and the outcome is always the same. Those that want to believe, will. And those that dont, wont.

I find this to be a bizarre statement.

Why would I not want to believe that there is more to human existence than this relatively brief biological stint here on earth?

Are you able to believe whatever you want to believe?

Myself, I require compelling arguments and robust evidence.

There's a reason the Big Bang is called a "theory", despite the fact that it's taught in schools. It's a "best guess"
...like semiconductor theory that makes the computer you are using work, or germ theory that saves millions of lives, scientists are just making their 'best guess' at how all that stuff works.

lol.

(based on incredibly unlikely chances)
What are those chances, exactly. Show your math.
for people who refuse to accept Creation's abounding evidence for intelligent design.
I've not see this evidence that you allude to. Do you have any that does not directly contradict the Christian religion?
Furthermore scientists still don't have EVEN A THEORY as to how all those elements existed in the first place.
Are you an astrophysicist?
They'd rather hope in ideas of their own design, with odds worse than winning the lottery BTW, rather than admit there is a God to whom the are answerable.
Answerable for decisions that are beyond their control. I recall that coming up a few pages ago.
It would be laughable if it weren't for the existence of a hell, to which all those who reject their Creator will sadly be estranged for all eternity. :(
The word 'reject' implies intent. I cannot accept or reject an idea until it has been presented in a coherent fashion.

My point with that statement was that unless you have an open mind, and are willing to listen to other's point of views, you will keep believing what you want. No matter what "evidence" and facts are presented. Like I said, my beliefs are based on my experiences, my studying myself aND the world around me. And some people WILL believe whatever the crap they want to believe.

For me, I had little exposure to religion until I was almost 40, and only looked into it when my children came of age, and could ask 'those questions'.

Now that they are older, and equipped with a good set of skeptical tools, I only participate in threads such as this for fun. :D

There isn’t much believable about some giant explosion that created the earth, and that all of the living beings on the planet have evolved from a common ancestor, so nothing will sway me as far as I can see
