I started airbrushing not too long ago and am learning how to do it. I picked up some stencils for skulls and plan to do a skull background. I've watched so many tutorials on youtube that my eyes are crossed  but haven't seen too many on doing it in reverse on lexan. Are there any good tutorials on this?

I plan to use a metallic black background and thought about ghosting them in with gray or very lightly with white. Can any of you pro's point me in the right direction?

Go get yourself a cheepo sheet of plexiglass for testing/practice. There are many different ways to do stencil work, for painting on the inside a negative stencil would do what you need. you can pick up plain uncut stencil sheet and trace or spray over the stencil you have and grab the ol' exacto and a pack of fresh blades, to cut out the original stencil in negative. lots of work but worth the effort if done carefully. good luck and have fun. AB work can be fun if you have the imagination.

I have done tons of skulls with my airbrushing when I was a paint vendor on here. If you really want to ghost them in with a metallic black background I would get some pearl while and very lightly spray around the stencil with it so all that will be seen is the outline and all the cut outs in a pearl and you can even stack the skulls and keep it simple since you won't be doing any fine detail work. Start off spraying some in different spots in different angle all over the body the work you way back behind then so on and so on. Then when that is done you can spray the black and they will pop in the light but look ghosted with little light. Here is an example of the way I mean by stacking skulls. The last 2 pics are with the pearl white ghost flames on gunmetal base.

Thanks for the help guys. I think I'm going to go with the method of using pearl white and outlining. I was cleaning the garage and found a whole bunch of lexan scraps I can practice with. I'll post pics when I'm done.
