Drag Slash to Late Model Oval conversion

So I built this one off C10 Drag Slash using all topend gear and finished it up (besides paint) about a month before Traxxass dropped their C10 Drag Slash.

I was never able to get out and run it though. Timing just never worked with the local drag guys, so it's been just hangin around on the wall.

After picking up the Traxxas Modified a few weeks ago to run oval with a good group of locals, I figured it was time to pull the Drag Slash off the wall and convert it. Thought about doing a mud boss, but because I bought the Modified, and a few guys already have a late model conversion it was the good way to go.

Pretty easy conversion though. Drag rig has bandit arms and I put on slash arms on the right side, adjusted the links etc, still a bit of setup and adjusting to get it to a good starting point.

Took the slicks off the PL Drag beadlocks and put on the Hoosiers, just need to white up the letters yet.

The Drag Slash had the Drag Race Concepts Zero * f bulkhead in it so had to swap that to a stock type so put in an rpm there and used the rpm f offset arms to run the rear wheels up front on the 2wd slash rigs. even wtih the Slash arms there is plenty of room under the body for the wheels so running the offset arm setup wont be an issue there.

Body is the McAllister Late Model for the Short Course trucks like the Slash.
currently has an xl5/12t stock traxxas setup, but I have a HW GR10/3300 combo here that will drop right into it and make it a ripper.
So not much more work to do, but some. Hoping to have it ready for next weekend. Other parts are arriving tomorrow. Then its down to springs for tuning and a few odds and ends, then onto getting the body trimmed and painted.

It's amazing what all a slash can be converted to.

We've got another track opening up here but I just cant make myself do it.

Hey, meybe you can answer me this. What parts from the old transmission are interchangeable to this new one?

Top shaft, though the gear is pressed on not set with a pin, and the middle idler gear. The bottom differential has larger bearings but Meus has brass adapters, gearing is the same. The cases are different, but mount the same.

Ya, there seems to be maybe 2 or 3 items that work. The diff gears I think are the same, the output cups, and as Hnoroian noted, the top shaft and idler Diff cases are not the same nor the ring gear on them as its offset where the 252 tranny diff case was centered (I believe).

the new 272R tranny has the drop out bottom for easy/fast diff swaps wihtout tearing the cases apart to do.
