hi,
i bouht a spektrum dx3e a month ago:ror: & have been running about 3 times a week now. the last time i went out the red light came on & i thought well i just need to replace the batteries:shock:. well i did & the red light still comes on. i am wondering if i need to"re-bind" it:cry:? i looked in the directions but i have not seen any "faq" or "troubleshoots" related to the red light staying on. it seems to operate fine.... so do you guys think that i just need to "re-bind" the controller???

The red LED is supposed to indicate a low battery condition. After changing the batteries there should be no need to re-bind the transmitter, any more than you would need to re-bind it after turning off the power switch.

I did a quick google search, and it look like a few people have had issue with the red LED staying on even with fresh batteries, as well as not staying bound to the receiver.
That may indicate a fault inside the transmitter.

I'd call Horizon Hobby, or wherever you bought it and see if you can have it fixed.

Everything is fine. The red LED should be on all the time. It is actually the green LED which indicates the state of the batteries.

Per the DX3E manual:

Solid Green - Battery is good
Dim Green - Battery voltage is low
No Green, only Solid Red - Battery voltage is critically low. Replace batteries

X2 red is always on.
replace or re-charge your battery when it's starting to dim, this can cause your truck to be very glitchy IMO.

wantasummit,
i did scan through the directions but i was focused on a "red light" text sequence:ror: soooo i probably skipped right over that. thanks for the info!!"thumbsup" i will re-read & see where it says that.

i feel better now....

thanks!!8)

Okay, I've realized my quick google search provided only mis-information.
Now this has me very curious about what the LEDs on my DX3e mean.

As far as I can tell from the somewhat cryptic user's manual, as well as messing with my transmitter, I think I have the LEDs figured out.

The green one is the power indicator. Bright indicates fully charged, dim means change the batteries.

The red one is a bit less useful. It's sole purpose in life is to blink while the transmitter is in bind mode.

This is my latest interpretation of the DX3e lights.
