BTW, I doubt for folks who cant/wont pay the $75 that packing up and moving is something that is economically possible.
Oh please. All they gotta do is cut the power, water, and sewer, hitch up and pull out. :ror:

Sure! Everyone who owns a mobile home drives one of these for a DD, right?Oh please. All they gotta do is cut the power, water, and sewer, hitch up and pull out. :ror:
Haha! Because we all know that the politicians in this country listen to their constituents and do what is in their best interests....:roll:If enough people demand their county provide services, then they will elect county representatives to make sure the county will

I thought you were the token Cowtown Liberal? When did you change?Who's fault is that? We get what we deserve. In 2008, do you know how many incumbents in the US House and Senate delegation from Texas were voted out of office after the passage of TARP?
One. And he was a Democrat who voted against TARP. :lmao:

There's the real answer and that signature signature.Plus, it was more fun instigating.

Good. She was wrong. So were the contract employees...'er, "firefighters". They are out $75, she is out every single one of her worldly possessions....win, win, right? :roll:By the way, Vicky Bell, the homeowner in this most recent fire told the news that she knew about the fee, but didn't think it would ever happen to her. That's why she didn't pay. Not that they couldn't afford it. Not that they didn't know. Just that they didn't think they needed to because it wouldn't happen to them.
Sooo......why is that? Most counties in this country it IS "pay as you go".......why can this county not grasp that concept? Two separate instances, both with bad outcomes. The county needs to change their policy so that they quit leaving their citizens hung out to dry.
My folks live in the country.....at least 10 miles from the closest city. Their neighbor's house was recently struck by lightning and caught fire....the FD was there within 5 minutes. Why? Because the county taxes paid for a station to be built near their house for the benefit of those living in that area.
Seriously? I know that the newest charred pile of rubble used to be on wheels, but to tell someone to move because their local politicians are terrible?
I agree, the homeowners should have paid. However, I can see both sides since I have been in a similar situation...one where I was unaware that the city required a form to be filled out for burglar alarm response.
Then people should move away from that county or ante up the necessary taxes (sales, property, etc.) to pay for services.
The common misconception in this country is that government provides services automatically. The truth is someone has to pay for those services, and paying for those services have taken our Federal debt to over $15T, or over 100% GDP...
In certain regions of the country, during certain times of the year, those utilities are considered necessary and cannot be disconnected. If you dont pay your water bill do you still get water? If you dont pay your electric bill does it stay on? Its a service they provide at a nominal fee. If it was a service provided by their Tax dollar then it be different but if everyone stopped paying their town taxes how long would that service be available?
I get upset when I see people getting things that they DONT need. I dont get upset at people who cant help themselves getting the things they need to stay alive (the elderly, children, the disabled and people who's houses are burning to the damn ground).Thats the problem, this goverment provides to much and funny thing is people in this thread even agree with that. People get upset when they see others getting hand outs, abusing the system but when the tables turn they get upset because they cant get a freebie every now and then.
I don't like paying for things that I don't think I need or that I don't see the benefit from either. But you know what, I do what I have to and pay it because that's what a contributing member of society and a responsible citizen does.Good. She was wrong. So were the contract employees...'er, "firefighters". They are out $75, she is out every single one of her worldly possessions....win, win, right?

Dont worry, I dont get offended by what is said to me on the internet."thumbsup"btw I wasnt trying to single you out, hope it wasnt taken that way.
Let me ask you guys this....recently the state of Texas had some pretty sizable fires (quite a number near where I live)....as in, half a city burned to the ground in one of those fires (next time I drive through there, I'll snap a few pics). A good majority of Texas firefighters were dispatched to those areas. We also had out of state firefighters come in to help out. Do you think the rest of the states should have just stood by and watched the entire state burn to the ground because we didnt pay for those firefighters?

These were local firefighters that were sent....at least the ones from this area....not a federal squad.Jeremy those fire fighters are federally funded to fight those kind of fires. Their whole reason for being is to fight large scale wild land fires. So you are comparing apples to oranges.
