If you have an air brush to use, you can find a matching color for the XJ lexan body at a crafts store. I use the $1 bottles to paint my lexan bodies, it works really well. I know you said that you are color blind, so take a buddy with you to help find the right color.

I had an airbrush years ago, but never learned how to use it unfortunately. It's lost now haha Good idea though! I'll just use a rattle can.

Oh, for anyone with the Pro-Line Jeep Cherokee...do you guys cut out the entire grill piece (headlights, ambers, and grill slots) as one piece? Or are the grill slots and headlights separated? Thanks!

Body and LEDs

XJ body is cut and almost ready for some paint!
Axial's rear bumper doesn't extend far enough to fit. I guess I could fix that by cutting off the body's bumpers? Might just wait till I get some metal bumpers though. Any ideas?

Wired up the LEDs. Hope they turn out okay...

Please cut the stock XJ bumpers off. I did and it looks so much better than the lame double bumper look some people have done. I hesitated cutting the flares off but wanted the body low so I hacked them, then I cut the rocker off at the bottom of the door. That was mainly to re-use my exsisting sliders from the last body that was on my rig.

Yours does look good without the bumpers!
And all the 1:1 XJ crawlers that I see don't have the stock bumper either.
I think I'll leave the fender flares on for now until after I get it all set up. I just really want to get it painted!

I agree with cutting the lexan bumpers.... Paint it yet?

Body Painted!

Well, I finally laid the paint on my XJ this evening. Took my sweet time to wash, dry, mask, scotchbrite, clean again, and paint it all. I think it came out nice.

I cut the front bumper off completely, but I kept the sides of the rear bumper just to see what it might look like. Not sure about it yet. I really like the look of the flares but they need to come off for clearance. (Pictures 4 and 5)

Is there some way I can push back the rear axle? Get longer links? It's just a centimeter or two too forward. (Picture 3)

Eventually I'd like to get some metal bumpers and sliders made so making the stock ones work is not a concern now.

And the pictures... You can see the clear spots I left for the LEDs. I'll still be putting the decals on over them.

Constructive criticism is appreciated!

what links are you using in the rear now? if they are the stock plastic ones from the tr you can use tra5318x for the uppers with the 4link truss and the same length for the lowers if you want the pinion angle to point up. if not then you can use jato rod ends and trim them up to get the propper rod length and pinion angle you want. hope this helps.
if you want the rear even longer you can use tra5319x for the uppers and lowers and again the jato links to get correct pinion/link length.

Looks awesome! You obviously took your time to make sure everything was right. For the rear lower links I'd go with the tra5318x(102mm), the uppers are already long enough because you used those plastic links with the 4-Link, and your pinion angle is really high. I have some aluminum spacers if you need them if the new links still don't line everything up with the longer links.

Are you going to use the TR fender flares?

he can also use the tra5319x which are 112mm long if he needs to aswell.

I think they'll be too long. A honcho has a 98mm up front and 106 out back and uses a 12.3" wheel base. The TR uses 98mm up front and out back with a 11.4" wheel base. The Cherokee has a 11.8" wheel base, right in the middle of the two, so the 112mm link will be way to long, especially with his long upper links for the 4-link. I'm pretty certain the 102mm links will be spot on "thumbsup"

Thanks for the sugguestions guys!
So the 102mm links will help lengthen the wheelbase and make it fit the body's wheel wells? I guess I'll need a set of those soon.

And those tires look sick!! Think they would look good for the Jeep? Or is that what you're planning on getting? haha

Chris, I picked up some wheel weights for free today! (Awesome family friends at a tire shop!) I got 2 sets of 1/2 oz. strips (6oz in each) and 2 sets of 1/4 oz. strips (3oz in each). Now I need to put them on.
