Flat Irons VS Chisels

my vote is for tsl swampers the hieght of the flat irons with the grip of the chiesels i comp with them

I just order some proline chisels, so will let you know how they work.

ROVERS, every time, the best.
I did extensive testing, the Rovers came out ontop.

I run cut and shut Rovers, 4.125" dia = clearance of Flatirons, grip of Rovers.

ROvers work best in all condition in my opinion.
I ran some modded Flatirons (cut off every other lug set, to massivly improve hook up and grip), they were ok, but nothing compared with red dot rovers.!

Have fun tire testing!

noting beats the tall thin look of the irons, only reason I use them. sure the chisels are slightly better on my home course, but they look butt ugly on my rig

I try to keep looks as part of my crawler because lets face it, it sits around more then it gets driven so I would rather have it look nice

What are you trying to accomplish with this rig? Is it a comp rig? A basher? What?

If a pure comp rig, then the Rovers are the only way to go in a stock tire. I run a set of custom 4" rovers on mine. The 2nd set of tires I use on my comp rig is a set of 4" ProLine Calibers.

Hey guys, just got some proline chisels and had a question. I mounted them on some beadlocks and the tire and beadlocks are air tight and hold air in them. Should i put some breather holes in the wheels??? I want to but am worried the tires will sag to much. But i am new to crawling, so is more sag better? Hoping someone out there is experienced in this area. Thanks. Roman.

Thanks for the replies guys.

@ EvilTwin v2... I'm currently just using it as a basher. Not bothered about looks, because the battery is on the front axle.

I think I'll go with Rovers, they seem to be getting the majority vote. If you put holes in the tires do they rip when you abuse them?

In regards to converting the stock wheels to beadlocks, all you do is get a section of 2 inch pipe yes?

Could I use a steel or iron pipe to add extra weight?

The Flat Irons are tall, but the Rovers provide tremendously better traction, and honestly, a tall tire is not always an advantage as it also raises your center of gravity.

I've had several sets of tires that I've vented and I have yet to ever rip one at a vent. It's best if you can punch the hole. Use a sharp punch or a small tool for punching holes in belts.

I've never done the beadlock mod. Personally, I'd be careful with the metal pipe. I like to run my front wheels at around 7 oz each (total weight with tires, foams, wheels & weights) and the rears at 2 oz each less than the fronts.

I personally love the hell out of my 2.2 Pitbulls, badass tall and wide tires with loads of grip and side hilling capabilities
