flipped axles?

Did several searches, didnt find this so I figured Id ask. Has anyone flipped their axles yet? Is there any reason it wont work?

The R&P in both axles are skipping pretty bad but only going forward. Flipping them upside down would mean that going forward would be using the undamaged sides of the ring and pinion. Being as I dont have the extra $24 for replacements at the moment, is there any reason I cant pull the link mounts, servo mount and axle c's, flip the axles upside down and reinstall everything?

You can flip the axles. You will either have to flip the tranny or reverse your ESC. It will also rotate your torque twist to the opposite side. It is alot of time and effort though

I don't see why you couldn't. They are the same dimensions on both sides, the only trouble you might have is having to make a new servo mount due to the pumkin bein facing the opposite way. Other than that, it should work fine, except when you reverse.

I don't know if flipping your axels will solve your skipping porblem, but I do know that you can flip them and it works well. The only thing is that the part (forgot the name) in the upper left corner of this pic has no be grinded down a little for the swap.

I shimmed the R&P so hopefully that cures the skipping. I already flipped the axles, it does work but you are correct, the upper link mount needs to be modded or another one built instead. As for the servo mount, not an issue since Im changing over to BTA steering. Lets just say that rock racing with the servo facing forward over the axle puts it right in harms way during a crash. Its a LITTLE hard on the servos metal gears. Ive wasted 2 gears sets so far.

When I "flipped" my chassis I also swapped the axle positions, (front to the rear, rear to the front) and then flipped them as well... so the top was the bottom, Only recently have I run into problems with slipping of the gears, I think I know why, I'll post up some further info one I install the hardened gears...
