Four Corners Fall Fun Series Comp #1

I believe keeping our rules in line with Nats would be the way to go. But if we are using an open format do we actully count the last course run? If thats the case cody ran the 2nd course last. Or do we use the course that we call #3 no matter what order you ran them in?
Once again we found out how much time is saved with the open format, and I feel that trumps everything. Which everway we decide will be fine in the long run as long as we keep the open format. We do call it Crawling, not Rock racing."thumbsup"

I looked into the tie breakers in the rules...

3.13 - Tie Scores:

3.13.1 – Nationals Style: In the event of a tie score the competitor with the lowest score on the final course run is considered the winner. If both competitors are also ties of the final course then the second to the last course run will be used, and so on.

3.13.2 – Optional: In the event of a tie score the competitor with the lowest time on all courses will be chosen the winner over the other competitor(s) with the same score.

We were thinking that it was the quickest time in the last course that broke the tie. Guess we should read the rules a little more often.

I vote for the "Nationals Style" well because thats how they do it at nats. Which would mean that Cody L. would have won. What do you guys think?

I would say the "last course" is #3 regardless of the order they were ran. We could start making the third course the hardest. Or better yet lets start running a 4th "finals" course between the top 3-5 guys that is harder/more technical than the rest then it should settle who is best that day. Most big events I know of run this "finals" course.

Thats the part that bugs me. The course #s don't really mean anything when were running open format. What if we broke the tie using the lowest score of the day for the two competitors, or the lowest score on the hardest course, which would be determined by the highest average score for all the competitors for each course.

Finals would be pretty cool!!

I think we should just keep it like Nats ruls and use the "last course " tie breaker. That would be course 3 always. We could make it harder , but there is really no need in it. Its all about consistency anyway , dont suck and there wont be a problem
