Futaba 4PL Setup, Tips, Tricks & Help

I have the NVS system hooked up to my 4pl. Works fine. Soon as the radio is powered on, the lights come on. You have to use a CCBec or its own battery. You cant power the NVS off the TX.

Regardless whether or not the NVS is powered by the ESC or a BEC is immaterial to my question which is, does it work with the 4PL signal processing and I think you answered that it does.

Am I reading your answer correctly?

Yes sir.. I even plugged in the extra lights as I dont use a few right now and everythinbg works fine.
Well thank you very much.

As I explained earlier, I wish to use my nice new 4PL for all my crawlers but most light systems do not seem to work with it.

About the power to the NVS unit, it looks exactly like the Tamiya system where you plug it into the battery and not the ESC's BEC. So a dab of solder on the battery connector of the ESC and you're in business. You would need the external BEC only if using a 3 cell or higher battery, as I'm only using a 2S I can power the NVS directly.

Placed an order. I hope it does what you say.

With a little info from Harley (thanks BTW) this is almost a set and forget radio for dual ESCs. With no dual motor/dual ESC experience i had my Berg up and running in minutes. Great system for a tad over $200!! Use it for what it's made for!

Hi, I've searched aöready but not found anything and reading through all 85 pages of this thread is a bit too much. I am considering purchasing the 4PL for my scalers (2 SCX10s and a CR-01) and am not sure if this can control a servo for shifting the 3-speed transmission on Ch3 and operate a winch on Ch4. If this radio can do this then I'll order immediately.

Thanks for your help.

Yes, that's very easy. If you need step by step directions I'll be happy to post them for you.

I can't believe this isn't the most popular radio option in this crowd... Why bother with a Spektrum?

That you, that would be great! I've ordered the radio and already received shipment notification. Now its up to the USPS and the ever fast German Customs.

Until then.

It's very easy

Go to the dial menu
Decide which DT button you want to control each function
Set the DT to the channel you want
Set the value on the right to 3P.

Repeat for other channel.

Thats it. If you need a video when it comes in I'll do one quick.

Does any one have a part number or model for the 120v wall transformer that will plug into the 4pl and charge this battery? FUTM1473
Further down the page you linked, it shows..... TowerHobbies.com | FUTM1832 Futaba HBC3B(4) 4PK 4PKS Charger ;-)
It does not state if it will work through your TX charge port. Maybe Harley will chime in.8)

Why not just use your existing charger (for your rig packs) to charge the TX pack?? Saves ~$32 and 1 less charger to keep track of?"thumbsup""thumbsup"

The linked charger is for the 4pk, it may work, but the tx port is labeled 4.8v and that one is 6v.

That is the correct charger for the battery.
Thanks Harley for the post. I wasn't sure, I was hoping you or others would chime in."thumbsup""thumbsup"

Sooo....the OP could use the linked charger and just plug it into his TX to charge that battery pack??

[since my son runs a loooooong time on 4 AA's, not sure why someone would want to spend extra for a rechargable pack......;-)]

was wondering if any one can help? i am running a 4pl to a castle mamba max pro and in the setup it tells me to switch the thr to rev witch makes my trigger forward-forward and pulled back rev . now this is anoying as hell so I would like to swich the controll throws aroud where pulled back is forward and pushed away is rev. I have tried to switch the tx back to nor. but that gives me the right throw direction but half speed forward and full speed rev. I have also tried to switch the speedcontroll wires but if the wires arnt letter matched the motor wont turn, just clicks. is their some thing in the 4pl I need to change? I am loving this radio diggs work killer and rear steer is easy to set up also! the trottle is the only thing driving me up the wall!:)
