Futaba 4PL Setup, Tips, Tricks & Help

Harley,

A couple questions. I have the software update. I have my throttle set to 120 so when I do mixing I don't have to remember where I'm at. Do you see any problem with this? Also, I would like to use the button that was the old dig button to do a front burn and then use dt4 to go all in then dt4 if I want to do a rear burn. So how can I program the old button with the new software. Have I lost that capability?

I do not recommend that setup at all. It brings a whole host of other issues. You cannot program the old button to do the dig. It was a give and take and we had to choose the best setup for the majority.

in dual esc, is there a way to make SW1 just go rear dig (front drive only, i may be using the wrong term) on and then off, if it's momentary or push on push off either way would be fine.

(sorry if this has been mentioned, the thread is a little overwhelming to read through.)

That question was just asked above you. Sorry but no.

Thanks J.

I did find that info and sent an email but no reply as yet. I was expecting that sort of reply from Futaba though which is a bit sad. I did tell them in my email I contacted the vendor first and that they sent me a link to their web site. They didnt even give me a link where to find the details or anything which is poor service too. Good to see Harley is helping out the masses... maybe Futaba could take a page out of his book and provide the same sorta service.

Just my 2c.

Cheers,

Ado

I am assuming that you contacted the U.S. Futaba service center?

They are correct, it would not make much sense for you to send your transmitter all the way here (shipping cost, shipping time and possible duties) to be serviced. Technically, the FCC does not want the U.S. service center working on Australian systems.

Here is the Australian Futaba service center information.

B012 or later.

Harley, mine is on B1010 which sounds newer than B012 bu still doesn't have the update :(

Please push Futaba to publish the tool and the new firmware so we can do this ourselves. No questions asked, if we destroy the 4PL we'll have to pay to fix it.

I am in Greece and have no direct way to do this update except by sending my Tx to someone in USA and then back to me

Just listed mine for sale on ebay with the new update. Sad to see it go... but I can't afford two radios right now.

B1010
10=October 10=2010

From what I can tell the U.S. serial numbers look slightly different than the one you have. B012=December
So, your transmitter is older than the B012 batch.

This is covered more in the beginning of this thread but you have one of the first versions of the radio. I didn't like the way the programming was and pushed Futaba to put out an update. Only the very first batch of radios weren't updated. Futaba will update your radio to the new programming free of charge, you just have to ship it to them and they will ship it back on their dime. The turn around is quick. All the info on how to have it updated is located in the first post of this thread.

Quick question:

Is there a way on the 4PL to display the rear motor % on the main display? I know it beeps when you reach 120%, but it's difficult to hear sometimes.

thanks
