Futaba 4PL Setup, Tips, Tricks & Help

Don't know if this is appropriate here or not, but anyway,

I need a new radio for my shafty. I can pick up a used, but well cared for futaba 3pm-x for around 130 or I can spend 70 more bucks and get a 4pl through RCninja.com. My question is do I really need the 4pl for a shafty? Or will the 3pm-x work just fine. Thanks in advance.

Need it? Probably not right now if you're asking that question. They are both good radios and I own them both. I have a help thread on the 3PMx as well. However, the $70 is going to put you into a more capable radio with lots of room to grow.

Also, something to consider is the RX cost and size. The 4PL uses smaller and cheaper RX's. If you ever get into scalers or MOA's you'll want this radio.

yeah, thats kinda what I figured, the fiance' has expressed interest in a scaler and I'm sure I will want an XR10 in the near future, has anyone ordered from RC ninja any?

Yes you can select a 2 cell LiFe option within the radio's menu. Futaba has an optional LiFe battery available, the part number is FT2F2100B.

Anyone find this bad boy from a reputable dealer online? Trying to find a price

+1.
I have a 3PM-x for a MOA with single ESC & servo dig. My son has a 4PL on his shaftie, soon to also be on a MOA with 2 ESC's.
I hate his RX prices, almost 1/2 of mine.:x My radio was a bit cheaper.

Both are great radios."thumbsup"

I am also a long time Futaba fan, thus rather biased.:flipoff::lmao::lmao:

Thanks, but I'm looking for the Futaba battery harley spoke about. I had quoted it in my post.

Okay, the Life pack. I searched around for it and seems like it's not available here yet. A few places in Japan and one in Australia have them in stock

just ordered one of these thanks to this thread"thumbsup"
im going to be puting it in a lcc with a dig, so is there any thing special that i have to do, or just put it on ch3 and get it so the dig activates smoothly?
