Hi and hello to all futaba gurus, and the rest of u guys to btw.

Well. as the title says t3pl rx 3+1Ch.

Setting up 4ws.
seems like there is no way to shut down the 4ws "on the fly".?
so was thinking to wire up a ners and a small relay to cut the servo signal cabel from ch3 so the servo holds or returns to 0.
did buy 2x savöx sc-1256tg digital 20kg servo and to my supprise the darn servo does shit when the signal is lost.
just dies like u turn the power of =/
dont think u can program the servos, dont know atm, not sure

how to solve this?

was thinking, the relay
http://www.hansenhobbies.com/products/onboardacc/ers/omr/OMR.pdf

is it possible to take the ch3 servo signal cable and use all 3 tabs.
so if i hit the ch3 switch it changes from ch3 0pos to ch4 mixing.
so on is ch4 and 4ws--- off is ch3 0pos and front ws
perhaps dont even work like this?

or just sell 1 savöx buy a hitec that holds when signal is lost or program it to reset to zero?

what do you guys think

/thanks

You are correct about not being able to switch off the 4WS on a Futaba 3PL.

What you are describing about using a relay will not work because RC electornics signal wires work by using Pulse Width Modulation(PWM). You seem to have some knowledge of how electronics work so I think this website will help you out:

How do servos work?

If that doesn't help I can try to explain it better, just let me know.

Okay, so if im going to use my savöv servo i must rig up a pwm @ 1.5mS or so with trim.

hm.

so lets say i buy a servo that i can tell to RESET if lost signal or HOLD pos if lost.
then it woud work kinda great whit semi independandt reer steer.

mode ON 4WS and Crabws on
mode OFF FrontWS and a reer that holds last post when shut down (no PWM signal)

this way i have a semi indep. reer steer. -- line up, Mode OFF and reer holds, when over obstacle Mode ON line up reer as wanted and mode Off to hold

ehither that or throw my 100$ radio and buy a 300$ twinstick or pistol.

I don't think they make servos like that, but don't know that for a fact.

Me personally, I'd buy a futaba 4pl and keep the 3pl as a backup... That way you have compatible receivers.

if so, woud it be better off with a 2stick or stay at pistol.

im very interested in trying out a Moa config @ 2 stick, seems to be a great way to control ur steering and dig etc etc etc

sad part is 500$ to try it =), dont have a moa

running a wraith atm, crawl setup

Here is one option for you :

http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/electronics/278219-futaba-3pl-diy-momentary-3-position-epas-trim.html

instead of using the +1channel on the 3PL you could mod it to have a 3 position 3rd channel. Then run your steering of of channel 3 and have full left, center, or full right.

pistol vs sticks is completely a user preference. I believe pistol grip is much more popular in the USA, but overseas I hear there are a lot of stick users.

You can always try a stick as well for pretty cheap(out of stock here, but you could find something like this somewhere):

2.4G CT6B 6-Channel Transmitter+Receiver (R6B) (Complete Radio System for RC Helicopter+Airplane)

I was in a similar situation as you and decided to get the Futaba 4pl and keep the 3pl for a loaner or basher vehicle. Hope this helps you out.
