Gearing options

Where do I find spur gears? The crawler store has 48 pitch spurs but they say there for the wheely king.

Try a 35-55t motor first at the stock 14/87 gear ratio and if you still want more low end, change your gearing. I have gone as low as 12/93 on my AX10 with a 55t on 9.6v (8 cells). I'm not sure if the WK spur will direct mount but I've found many that do. They are pretty universal from what I understand as long as you get the correct 48 pitch. (there are std. and metric from what I hear) I have mine geared at 15/87 right now to create a little extra wheelspeed for clearing obstacles because my skidplate clearance is only 2.25".

A 93t spur is the absolute biggest spur you can put on there with the stock outputs. Actually, my 93t rubbed just a hair for quite a while before wearing a tiny groove. Someone makes a spacer for the drive output to allow for fitting bigger spur gears. I don't have any personal experience with one of these but I have seen something about it posted on here. If ya just go up to the 93t spur with the 12t pinion, that ratio is low for sure. If it's still not enough for you, there are even smaller pinions. Again though, if you put in a 55t motor (Integy lathe goes for under 20 bucks), you will get the desired effect you're looking for without having to gear quite so low. In my opinion, you'll want to run 8 cells on the 55t motor to make it snappy enough. It's kind of a dog at lower voltages. Hope this helps.

Thank you all for the replies. I think I will try the Wheely King spur The Crawler store sells. 93t I plan on going brushless, with the CC sidewinder at some point.

I'm running a 10t and 93t spur gear-55 turn motor and 10 cell homes hobbies-man now I have torque and wheel speed. Matt

Get a 35-55t motor (or 7t puller =D) then get a 10 cell (12 V) 1500 mah battery from HH (about 30 bucks).
Gear down...

and have some fun!

I run a 45t motor with the 87 spur and 14 pinion. still currently running 7.4 volt lipo. have enough wheel speed and the smooth low end torque.

i believe the kimbough spurs will work ... i dont think my spelling is right on the company though :(

with that 27turn motor run a 12t pinion and a 90t spur and you will have all the torque you need and plenty of wheel speed. Kimbrough makes the spurs that will fir the axial tranny."thumbsup"
