Time for another build :)
TTC events have always been my favorite comp style so I started watching all the Four Wheeler Magazine TTC videos on youtube mainly to get ideas for scale events but also for full size rigs to take ideas from.
Found a couple trucks I liked.

I also took ideas from some scale trucks I've always admired: War Pig's 34D and Griz's 1.9 Pepe truck.

Fortunately I was able to see Pepe in action at a local TTC comp few years back, I can only imagine how the 34D worked.

I was wanting to do a truggy-style rig with some sweet scale touches, I decided on a hard body I likedand got to choppin.

I tapped my good friend Stephan to do the tube work after seeing his tube truggy he recently built. He graciously accepted the project and I told him he was in for a hell of a build, lol.

Started with an SCX10 chassis, the clipped body and some rock rails.

Moved up to the front bumper and stinger.

The front fender tubes tied in to the bumper with some brace tubes.

Got started on the roll bar and the back half.
IMG_3438.JPG

More work on the rear half
IMG_3444.JPG IMG_3447.JPG

Worked the cut bedsides into the mix and added more bracing to get everything solid.
IMG_3446.JPG

Move up the front real quick to brace off the tube fenders and start cleaning everythign up.

Nice work on the brazing / rig design. I always liked TTC events, they were big back in Florida (RC wise).

Alrighty, looks like I got the picture sizing figured out finally "thumbsup"
Couple more steps of brazing to finish things up.
IMG_3449.JPG

Add the last few details
IMG_3451.JPG

And then its off to the sand blaster to clean it all up.
IMG_3452.JPG

A couple quick mock up test fits, looking good so far.

On the slab at the shop, I'm very happy with the finished cage "thumbsup" thank you Stephan!

Was lucky to find a new color from Rustoleum, Poppy Red. I think it looks sweet. Not to bright and not to dark.

mocked up with some TSL xl getting the wheel base to look right

Nice man!

Are you using MAP gas to braze with? I'm gonna try brazing pretty soon, never really did it before. I can mig, tig and arc weld really good (been doing it for years), just never tried brazing....lol

Thanks! All the credit should go my buddy Stephan, he did all the hard work, ie; listened to everything I wanted for the cage and changing the rock rails and front end at least twice

I believe he uses MAP gas, it burns hotter than propane but don't quote me on that one. I know there are plenty of threads in the tools and procedures section and a bunch of videos on youtube. I prefer welding but didn't have the time or patience at the moment for this project.

Nice, I'm digging that red!

Thanks, me too. just something different. It a satin finish, so hopefully touch ups won't "flash" too much

Time to get back to this build cuz I already have a couple others going now

Got the front end together with a lot of measuring and double checking to make sure everything cycled smoothly, that was alot of fun but well worth the effort with some "broken steering"

I had a fancier idea for the winch and fairlead but a small piece of angle aluminum and a fiarlead from a integy winch will work for now.
IMG_3544.JPG

One interesting note, a good friend gave me a box of parts of pieces and I found these rear axles shafts in the bottom of the box. Not sure what they are made of or who made them but they are beefy!
IMG_3535.JPG

Slapped the rear end together and you can have a better view of the dual shock set up, beast mode.

Installed some styrene plates to keep as much dirt and debris out of the chassis and protect all the running gear.

We'll just a head to a finished truck cuz it was time for some G6 fun at the RECON event we attended "thumbsup" Snorkel and stickers in place "thumbsup"
IMG_3551.JPG

Got some shots on the rocks and the truck did well on its first shake down run/RECON G6. Just snapped a screw pin on the drive train, other than that she was good to go "thumbsup"
IMG_3577.JPG

IMG_3583.jpg

Did a quick tear down and clean up after the G6 and noticed a few things that need to be attended to. First was some leaky ass shocks. The proline scale shocks I had where an old set I decided to pull the trigger on some blingy king shocks. I used the spring pack plus 2k diff oil up front and 3k in the rear.
