I've been working on finally getting one of my 1.9 rigs together and the only thing I'm missing are the tires. What do you guy's recommend? I want something that performs well but still has a scale look to it. The tires I've been looking at are obviously the Proline 1.9 Flatirons(which I think I will get regardless),RC4WD Mud Thrashers,Out Croppers,Rock Crushers & Losi 1.9 Claws in blue.Maybe the Trail Doc XL's,but where can they be purchased? I know the RC4WD tires have a great scale look, but do they perform? Which ones are supposed to be in the new softer compounds? Thanks for the help guys"thumbsup"

i have a set of:
1) flat irons in the g8 compound
2) reduced 2.2 soft mud thrashers
3) trail dr xl's in the super softs

out of all three, the flat irons performed the best, but in my experience, you have to have a low offset wheel to clear the steering knuckles up front on tlt axles. this paired with a hilux body gives alot of scale rub, and looks pretty damn cool lol

the trail dr's came in a close second. they look ultra scale and perform really well, but as soon as they get wet, they lose their grip a whooole lot. also, with the super soft compound, after only a couple of runs on jagged rock, they were looking pretty ragged. i've been told there's no real difference in performance between the soft and super soft, so if i had to do it again, i'd get softs, hopefully they last longer.

lastly is the mud thrashers. i love the way they look, same height as the flat irons and trail dr's, but just super aggressive. the compound isn't as soft as the other two wheels, but the super aggressive lugs help it grab rock and whatever else you're trying to climb. being that it's a harder compound, it requires you to think of your line a little more, so i guess these will be my, "shelf" tires lol. hope this helps, and here's a couple of pics with all three tires on my rigs.

By the sounds of the list of your considerations, you are going more scale then comp.
Consider the OD size of all those under the fenders of your body and how they will look.

Under my 1:18 Mog body, I couldn't go over 3.5" OD (3.2 was best) or I would be carving away the fender skirts.
I ended up with Losi Rock Bashers in their blue compound. Perfect size and they are soft and fairly sticky.

Yes,this will be a 1.9 scale build,so I want tires that will look kinda scale as well as perform.I have heard good things about the RC4WD Mud hrashers, just need a firmer/larger foam due to soft sidewalls. The ones in the pics above I believe are Mud Slingers, not Mud Thashers. I would like an all around tire that will do decent on rocks(wet or dry) & mud.Anyone have experience with Crazy Crawlers?

Just to point out he has mud slingers, thats why they are the harder compound, the mud thrashers are soft

fwi fordman, the only rc4wd 1.9 tires in the new sticky compound are the outcroppers (3.75") and the mudthrashers (4")
i would highly recomend the thrashers, in fact i think "just zach"(2008 scale and comp national champion) is using them for comp tires on his MRC.

I haven't tried them yet on my MRC, but I'd think they would do extremely well and the size is perfect on a MRC in my opinion. Right now they are staying on this though

Well,I think my mind has been made up. Now to get a set Mud Thrashers & play with a firmer foam setup. Thanks alot guys for your help. I already have a set of 1.9 F/I on the way,but I do like the scale look of the Thrashers."thumbsup"

I am still partial to the rock creepers. Very scale and perform nicely. Mud thrashers look killer too."thumbsup"

Love my outcroppers a ton, they're on a 3pc rc4wd rim. The proline however I think will be sweet the extra clearence alone will help a ton. Threw them on mr MRC, and they worked very well:shock:"thumbsup"
