Got quite a bit of work done on the body.

Shot some primer on to see how it's looking. Still needs some sanding in spots but it's getting closer.

That's turning out real nice, great styrene work you got going "thumbsup"

Front bumper looks good too

Looking forward to the finished product!

Been doing allot of small touch up work on the body thats hard to show. Also tested up my start to the roll bar. Used some plastic coat hangers to do a first run of it. It is 1/4 in size. Which to me it looks to small in diameter, like maybe 3/8 would be better size.

Put it together today and ran it before our forecasted snow hit us and got a few pics and videos.

CJ-5 looks right at home on those hills. "thumbsup"

I used 1/4" brakeline for my cage, and I think it looks proportionate to the scale of the Jeep, but check it out and compare the two, maybe a beefier rollbar would look cool on it"thumbsup"

I went back and rechecked out your build again. Your right the 1/4 inch looks good. Wonder if it helps that its up by the windshield as well. I do plan on making the roll bar for the windshield area. Going to make a windshield but didnt want to do it until i get a roll bar to protect it.

I made it to the end of your post and it was kinda left off like you where going to tear it down. You still have it together?

I still have the body/cage, and since I've been watching your build, and the renewed interest in these Jeeps, I'm looking to put it back together again. I had taken the chassis off, and put it under a Dodge SCT body, but it won't take that much time to reverse the process, and build another wroncho chassis for the Dodge body.

Simple matter of putting the longer links and longer driveshaft back on.

I went and got some 3/8 brake line and made the rollbar. It turned out ok enough for me to keep going with the planing of the windshield. Need to get some more styrene, hoping the weather holds out for the trip to the LHS.

There wasn't a tailgate when i got the jeep either, was thinking originally that i was just going to fill in that area and call it good. Well i started playing around with it and came up with a working tailgate. Kinda based off of a 1974 cj5 i had.

Had a few tries at cutting out some "JEEP" letters to fit on the back of the tailgate. They haven't turned out so well tho.

Been working on making a windshield, it's not really true to scale. I wanted to have it protected by the rollbar so the top was altered to make sure it isn't going to get ripped off during a rollover.

Thinking i will add some detail like the wiper motor cover and form line that runs horizontally near the base. Right now i dont think i will make it hinged.

Now that the holidays are over I can get some more time to work on this again.

Decided on making the windshield solid since I would never put it down anyway. Added wiper motor cover and a fake windshield cowl seal.

Got some used rc4wd rock stomper xl which are 5.5inches tall. I felt the baja claws ttc tires at 5.7 inches was just a bit to big.

Iv been trying to find something to use for fender flares that are flexible, not having good luck so far.

I still can't get over how well the body modifications you made, make it look like an entirely new Jeep, that's really great"thumbsup""thumbsup"

For fender flairs, have you tried using a winshield wiper blade, or possible a bicycle inner tube. Cut up one of those puncture resistant tubes, they are a heavier rubber, and may hold their shape better. Not sure how you'd fasten it though.

Or are you looking for a more rigid type of flare?

Thanks Mike"thumbsup"

I am looking for flexible flares, but not floppy. The windshield wiper might work, i need new wipers on my jeep anyway. Not sure how i would mount them.

Iv got some led's coming for lighting. I got some fancy looking chrome /plastic bezels for the tail lights in 10mm.

Found some super bright 10mm white led for the headlights. I also found some really bright led flashlight i was thinking i could mod for the headlights, but the diameter is a bit small.

The light holders came in, they where listed as 10mm led holders. Couldn't find a 10mm dimension on the thing.

Ground out the inside of the holder and the lip on the bottom of the led. Seems to look fairly good, close enough to the look i was going for.

Finally getting back to jeep building. Ended up getting pneumonia ,which really hurts when you have a fractured sternum!

I got some actual 10mm led holders in so i didn't have to grind the holder and the led to make them fit together. The 10mm led holders are a bit bigger as well, which looks better for size wise.

Still trying to figure out a decent looking headlight assembly. Haven't done anything about fender flares either.

Weather turned warm here in Michigan and i have been struggling to give any time to this build. I have managed to make a few things.

Made some rock sliders, nothing fancy but i wasn't looking at making anything that really stuck out to far.

I have been having a hard time finding light buckets big enough for the headlights. Found some thin aluminum at work and made some light buckets that turned out ok. Im hoping that you won't see the scuff/forming marks on them once i put covers on them.

Got the light buckets mounted. Took the original light covers and ground off the nubs that went through the body.

Used 10mm leds and these are bright compared to the 5mm ones i normally use.

Been fighting photobucket to log on for some reason for the past few days. Finally started working for me today. Tore down the jeep down to the components. Blasted the frame and painted it.

I have the body painted as well but didn't get any pictures. I turned the heater on in the garage to paint and ended up waking up some bugs in the garage. They decided to fly right into the freshly painted body.

I got the body fixed good enough to look good without being too nice to not want to run it and mess it up.

Now to let it sit and cure. The weekend is calling for rain, so im not sure if I'll run it until next week

I went to take the first trip on the jeep after paint and my poor overworked powerhd 230oz servo finally said iv had enough. I've been on the mailing list for promodeler 420oz servo, and holmes hv500 servo since just after Christmas. Neither has been back in stock since then, hopefully it will be soon.
