I thought it was just 'OK'. I thought the idea of covers was to do your own interpretation of the song not copy it! He's even try to sound like Gibbons.
There's no denying there's talent there, just a bit wasted on this occasion. ;-)

Rarely is a cover better than the original.
One cover I do like better than the original is this one:

To me NB is just Creed 2.0 and I hate the both of them.

You had better have your crap together to cover ZZ Top, and they are nowhere near it.

One of the only ZZ Top covers I liked is "Heard it on the X" by Vinnie Paul, Darrell Paul, and Rex Brown. Mainly I like that they kept the raw style and did it as a threesome even trading the vocals between Darrell and Rex just as Billy and Dusty did in the original version.

The thing about ZZ Top is that they are a raw band and if you can't keep that sound then you shouldn't try to cover. Over produced pop/rock bands should stay away.

Several years ago I was driving at 3 a.m. on New Years and this came on. Thought it was awesome, though it takes a bit to build up.

I can't stand Gretchen Wilson but the she nailed that one. Of course having Alice back her up helped too.

As for Tori, she can cover whatever she wants. Best performer I have ever seen hands down. She understands what it means to perform live, cater to here audience, and put on a show! Saw her in 97 at The Grand Ole Opry and it was phenomenal! Comes out in an evening dress and at one point rocks here piano and a keyboard at the same time while not missing anything vocally and has here entire band sweating their butts off. I have seen too many live performances to count in every genre imaginable and she still stands at the top of them in my book. She's almost like the female Johnny Cash, very haunted and a little much her own in all aspects. Obviously they are very different but still eerily similar too.

and of course Slayer is one of the hardest bands ever to cover well, you either have to do a complete copy and nail it or do your own thing with it to such a degree it takes it to a different level. Slayer for me and the sound has always been pure magic. From Kerry and Jeff's amazing guitar work to Tom's vocals and Dave's drumming. Also some of the nicest guys you could ever meet.

That CC lounge cover reminds me of Pat Boone's metal album he made in the 90's. Enter Sandman Pat Boone style is hilarious!

Even used it as background music for my Bronco...
