grey hair remedies

I had gastric bypass 5 years ago. During the weight loss I would say half my hair fell out. I got pretty bare up top. It all came back. WHITE. I turn 41 next year and am salt and pepper, with way more salt than I would like. I tried a couple things, but in the end unless you want to look like the old dude with jet black hair, or pay to have it done every month it is best to let it be.

The best thing I found was "Touch of Grey" in the brush in comb. It was easy enough. Problem was they number the dye, and black is say 40, and brown is 30. I need a 33-35 to look natural. The black made me look goth. The brown was not terrible, but when it faded it the gray turned redish and looked beyond silly. If your hair happens to match the available colors of the brush in stuff it is easy enough to do. And if you seal the brush, you can use it again. It really needs to be done every 2 weeks to keep it up.

I don't believe there are any medical things that can be done. Stress caused it, and once they are gray, there is no going back. I wish it would go pure gray, I could rock the Steve Martin look. And because I am too cheap to have someone else do it, I am stuck with gray.

Side note, they have 2 different brush in dyes I have seen. Just for men, and touch of gray. I believe they are made by the same company, but the touch of gray lasted much longer in my hair. Just fyi.

EDIT: I just looked it up, and they do sell Touch of Gray in more colors online. Wallyworld only had black or light brown. I might order the darker brown from Amazon just for giggles.

I haven't tried any of these, but that pretty much confirms my suspicions and it's so easy to see when most hair colors are not natural imo.

dang it's only hair !!....I shave my head every month here in north east PA, can't wait till I go bald....hair is sooooooo OVER RATED....

Hair is nice to have, you can shave it off, but once it's gone...

A lot of people have such ugly heads, they need all the hair they can accrue. I like to keep things shaved tight, but my head is not one of them :ror:

Just be happy you have a full head of hair. You can always dye yours. You could be going bald like me!

Yes, my melon is not the best looking without hair.

All sound like good advice, mine is getting salt and pepper on the sides. I'm more worried about receding hairline and loss of hair over the years. Better all grey/white than bald imo.

@OP, I'm sure plenty of job selection is based on looks more than we'd like.

I'm a hairy guy, so maybe in the future they'll get good at transplanting it from my back to my head! :lmao::lmao::lmao:

EDIT:

More related to stress levels and nourishing the scalp. They get grey hair, but pretty late in their 60's. I also noticed, they had good hair density.

My grandmother had less than 10% grey hair even at 65 yrs. And she was not alone, many people of her age including men and women. They all had one thing in common and that was they applied pure coconut oil to the scalp before bed. It was a habit for them.

If you look at the Indian market, you will notice we have a range of coconut oil hair products and this has been so since a long time. There is a reason why coconut oil as a hair product is so successful here. Its tried and tested method, that has been handed down from generations.

You might want to do some research on the benefits of pure coconut oil. The modern hair products are useless and are a total gimmick filled with artificial stuff and chemicals.

Try it for a week probably every alternate day if you don't feel like applying it daily. Notice any difference in your hair (Greys won't turn back:ror:) and then continue if you feel like. A year down the line you will see a huge difference and your greying will be postponed.

Good quality coconut oil also has very little coconut odor too and it's good for skin and cooking too. I've heard recently that rubbing organic apple cider vinegar into your scalp daily will help keep your hair...dunno if it's true but I may have to test it.

You pretty much only have a few choices. Pay to have it died professionally, kill yourself or stop being a pansy and accept that its just life and gray happens. I've had gray in my beard since I was old enough to half assed grow one.

Just think of yourself as a silverback, and accept it. Cancer put all kinds of grey in my goatee. I was vain 2x, and neither color, that should have worked did. I just got over it. Crap changes you.

I have noticed, people who apply pure coconut oil to the scalp every day before going to bed have healthy hair.

I'm not sure about the grey hair remedy, but I do use coconut oil to help keep my scalp from drying out during the winter. Not on a daily basis, mostly on an as needed basis....
