I didn't want to clutter up Tim's PitBull Rock Beast II review thread so I thought I'd start my own.

Dezmoon contacted me and asked if I would be willing to run the new Rock Beast II tires for the Northwest Scale Championships and since I love to try new stuff I happily agreed. My friend has run the 1:1 PitBull Rockers on his 1:1 Bronco and we were impressed with them so I was very excited to give these new scale tires a test.

The first thing I noticed was of course how sticky and soft the tires are. The sidewall has better support than other 5.75" tall tires I have and on a heavy scale rig that is a good thing. Don't take this as them having a stiff sidewall, because they are still soft and flexible, just that they have a bit more support.

Next I noticed how easily they mounted on my wheels. I am currently running some old school RPP Hobby scale wheels. The Pitbulls just went right into the beadlock groove and I was able to seat them by just pushing on the ring. Another pair of tires I have require me to mount each bead at least twice because the tire pushes out of the bead groove and gets pinched. The PitBulls mount up smooth as butter every time.

Today was my first chance to run these on the rocks and I was very happy with the performance. The tires grip the rocks really well, in fact Ty was taking pictures of Guido for RC Driver magazine today and he wanted to get some action shots with the tires spinning. We had a really hard time getting a shot because everytime I goosed the throttle the tires would hook and the truck would shoot up the rocks, it was hard to get the tires to just spin.

WIth an 11+ lb rig I have learned to live with sidewall roll while sidehilling; it's just something you have to expect even with the stiff foam setup I have. I will say that what I saw today was not excessive folding of the sidewalls. I am quite happy with how they worked today.

I will continue to update this thread as I learn more about the Rock Beast II tires, and I want to do my own comparison with other tires. But for today I have to say that I am impressed with these tires and am glad to be running them. Here are some pics from my first day on the rocks.

Wow,,They Look Right at Home on Guido,,Im Very Happy To Hear Your Enjoying Them So Far,,Im Just starting To Get The Frayed Edges On Mine,,Im Sure That Will Only Help With Traction..Kinda Scary If You Ask Me,,They Hook Hard Without Them...

Ty Were Sorry about The Lack of Spinning Tires ...

Looks great, just waiting for RPP to tell me your order has been shipped !!"thumbsup""thumbsup"

Those look great on there Grizz. Did you ever get to run the Iroks? I have run them a few times now on Southern Comfort and I'm not all that impressed with them. Sidewalls seem really soft even with the CI foams. Reading what your saying is just one more reason for me to bolt these up it sounds like. Maybe you can mount the Iroks on some other wheels and do a little side by side comparison on the heavier style rig.
Stinks we normal folks have to wait till November but if we are getting a more detailed version in the end, I'll gladly wait.

Just in case anyone is wondering how they do in mud. Here is Disturbin' Tha Peace and Corey Hall in the 2012 NWSC TTC Mud Pit.

DTP finished 3rd in the mud pit, Corey finished 8th, and if I hadn't clipped the boundary marker I would have been right up there with them. After everyone was done I went back and made a run just for fun and blasted through the pit in a very good time.

These tires worked amazing in the mud.

I agree with Griz on the side wall part. I run a 7.75 lbs rig and all it took was a bit softer foam combo to get the tire to meet my desires. Great design that is very tunable"thumbsup"

And I Agree With Both of You,,,One of My Most Favorite Features of The Rock Beast II, Is You Dont Have to ,or Need to Cut The Tire To Get Them To Work,,No Tire Mods At all...Just a Lil Foam Tuning to your Rigs Weight..and Thats It...Its Nice To Know You Get Performance right Off the Bat....

OK guys....cut the crap...you're making me want to build a scaler just to use these tires!

[I know Dez wants to build the local scaler group....too much time/money for me right now...... :lmao::lmao:]

Maybe I need to ditch my Sedonas on the XR-10 and run these?!

Sigh.

PS, yes they look like a GREAT tire for 2.2."thumbsup""thumbsup"

Absolutely. They were great with CI dual stage foams, med. front & hard rear on my 9lbs, 10oz Caddy.

No doubt in my mind they worked better than my previous tire. Some one asked my if I'm going to practice with the new tires. I said, "Do I need to practice with something that works better?"

Now driving in general, that's another story…..:lmao:

Thanks Pitbull Tires!"thumbsup"

So true on the foams, I ran a very simple foam setup with basically a tall center foam and slices of a shorter foam to give the sidewall extra support because of Guido's weight. The extra firmness supported the weight and allowed the tires to do what they do best, hook up.

In the 2012 NWSC TTC Truck Pull event the Rock Beast II's were on point. PitBull tires filled the top 3 spots. "thumbsup"
1st Place went to DTP with the Caddy.
2nd place went to me with Guido.
3rd place went to 666 with the EB Truggy running the original Rock Beast tires.
6th Place went to War Pig in the 34D.
and 10th place went to Corey hall in the Blazer buggy.

Tim and Corey were lighter, and in a truck pull event weight is good to maintain momentum so Guido and the Caddy did well.

Saweeet! Looks like fun man...loving Guido's new look.
I CAN'T WAIT to get my hands on a set of those tires!

10th place sucks. In the Blazers defence, The first run was a full pull. The second I broke the center pin in my rear drive shaft causing me to stop forward momentum. Too much traction and HP for the rear shaft. It was a MIP knock off. No complaints here. Best tires I have had on the Blazer."thumbsup"
