GT3B Hack Question and Answer Thread

I got an email a month and a half ago. I waited a couple days, and then ordered the radio. No problems. Not sure why you having trouble.

Why is it so hard to get one of these radios from overkill RC? I have received two emails and right away it says out of stock?

Probably because they are in high demand and people buy them within a couple days of being posted"thumbsup"

I'll have 20 more going to be posted in a week or so. I need to get all the current orders built/packed/shipped before I can take anymore orders.

Hacked GT3B, version 6 I believe. Has completely stopped controlling ch1, I can still adjust the servo with the trim, but I have no steering function. I have swapped in a steering potentiometer from a known working un hacked unit with no change and I have tested the servo on a completely different system and it works as desired. It would seem to me that the channel on the board has failed, any thoughts?

have you tried new receiver, if not try that first they can and do fail.

Oh, yes, tried three and then tested the original with a different system. All the RX worked fine with a different transmitter.

I've got two questions regarding programming a hacked 3c.

In the manual for 0.6.1 in the global setup menu items there is an option to make Ch3 a potentiometer, what applications would this be used in?

How would I set up rear steer to be incremental on Ch3, with long press to center, otherwise short press is incremental in either dir. to go like this (my thoughts are multi pos switch, but not sure) :

L >25-50-75-100- long press in the other dir. to center _ R >25-50-75-100- long press in the other dir. to center
with C as Crab - NoCrab option ?

I hope that makes sense.
Thank you in advance.

No problemo..... I have mine set on d/r switch........ At a 20% rate each way. I think its about 5 positions each way. Then to center push straight in for a second and auto centers. You can add more steps but I have found 20% is great on my c3 rig and I drive the hell outta it.

I think this is pretty much what I'm looking for, but I am not sure how to set it up. "thumbsup"

Obviously you got your channel to switch set up.... I run my winch on the d/r switch and rear steer on the ch3 trim. Using 6ch rx. So here we go........

Long hold on rev.
3 ch4
3 bnl
3 20v
3 re 0
3 ro 0
Then save it all up by pressing end etc etc.

Now if ya don't like how it holds each % and to move from 10-20 you have to tap tap tap to get to 100% swap out the bnl to bar and step the 20v down to 10v...... Try each and see how ya like it. Now on first set up if you want back center you just center push the button straight in and will auto to 0%........ Let me know how it goes eh.

I'm stuck between both set ups right now. Lol both have ups and both have downs.

Awesome, I'll give this setup a try... it seems so easy when you break it down like that. I'm still trying to learn the basics of the radios language. "thumbsup"

thank you

Yes. My radio came like that. Would only work 1 out of 200 presses. I opened up the radio. Pryed the top of the switch open. Bent the metal plate inside the switch so when the button was pushed it made contact completing the circuit. I will explained better in a couple hours my daughter is demanding my time right now.

Ok, I would have swore someone posted a question in the past page or so about how to do multi position...I was rather excited to answer because I haven't had that question for a long time and I feel like it is so far out of the norm people don't realize it's there and it's not used very often.

Was I dreaming this up? Or did this post get deleted?

And I'm gonna need to look into this enter button issue....I haven't been able "break" any of the ones I have here. I've done 500-1000 enter button presses on 3 different new radios....can't get one to break so I can diagnose the cause.

Are you guys' still getting the tactile "click" when you press the enter button and get no response?
