GT5 channel 5 and 6 mod

To clarify, if I boot the radio and go to the epa menu and choose ch5 and move the toggle, it will move from left to right or vice versa but only the one time which makes sense since I can't get full voltage. I would guess that there is a slight voltage spike when it boots up otherwise I don't know why it would only change from the extreme points once. My meter responds too slowly to catch it if there is.

Long story short, the voltage peaks at 1.7v as configured but needs to reach 2.26.

I hear you. It's weird. You would think that it would work. A change in voltage at what used to be the wiper pin should get you a servo movement the same way it would with the pot. Not just when you are viewing the EPA menu. Even if you don't get the full voltage swing you were expecting.

I just ordered some diodes, I'll add them after each resistor so that the voltage divider still works in the middle position but that should give full voltage at the extremes. I won't know until Thursday though if they arrive on time.

Also, yes, a servo will move when plugged in but the travel is uneven. Ch6 doesn't do anything though so I'll have to open it up and see if I'm getting voltage or not.

Looks like in the soldering/unsoldering I overheated something, ch6 is dead, 0 volts coming from the board. I ordered another radio. I'll experiment with this one then move the switches and wiring to the new one if/when it works properly. This is still a fully functioning 5 channel radio, I'll just have to make a plug for one of the switch holes.

I'm thinking I may have had 2 odd resistors to start. I just replaced them with 2 10k resistors and get:
0.0
1.49
2.74 volts respectively. So my center position is slightly off but it should work ok with trim.

I trimmed the original resistors very short and may have burned one out soldering it is my guess. For a trial I left the leads full length.

Photo attached. Wiring isn't the cleanest since I had it apart multiple times but it's working, aside from the center position offset which I fixed with subtrim.

I've since had this in use for a few hours over the weekend. Aside from burning out channel 6, it works quite well (my fault, too big of a tip on the iron I think). I have 2 other GT5's to do this to now to have all my radios have 2 extra channel functions. I don't see a use for the pots unless I was to mount an FPV camera on a servo gimbal or something.

Wow...I was wondering if anyone had done this. 3-pos switches would be great, but since 2-pos seem trivial I might give that a go first.
