I have seen ball screws end their life in 14 months that too on a brand new vmc. The machine was used for production work full 3 shifts 6 days a week. and the feed rate was pretty high.
And guess what, The company owner was more than eager to reduce the cycle time even more. I think he got the machine cost cleared in the first year itself. :roll:
