Buying one this weekend. Got my eye on a couple but was wondering which ones you guys have and your thoughts on them. And does anyone know if they are using laptop drives or something else.

Thanks

I just bought a 30 GIG JVC Hard Drive camcorder.

Haven't had a chance to use it yet, but it has a ton of features and included software to transfer videos to my laptop.

Bought it through Dell, can't wait to get some video. Snows melted, buy we are sopposed to have rain this weekend!:x

Sooner or later, I'm going to get some video though.

I have the Sony DCR-SR40 HDD camcorder and love it. Very easy to use, DL'ing vids to the PC is fast and easy and it'll hold a ton of video without needing to clear extra HD space.

Here's a couple of samples...after converting to wmv from mpeg and reducing resolution to 540 x 360:

I use the JVC GZ-MG70U, the only thing I can't stand about it is the battery life. You can record 7 hours on the HDD but the battery only lasts about an hour. So definitely pick up an upgraded battery pack or two.
